i recently was given a sony vph 1251 q that was ceiling mounted .i would like to set it up on a cart . the manual says it can be used either way but i can't find any info on how to change the orientation. is it a physical change in the unit or a setting through a menu? any help appreciated.

You have to switch some connectors under the hood to change the orientation.
Download the install manual (http://www.curtpalme.com/docs/Sony1251_1271_Install.pdf) and look at page 25 ;)

well the screen is orientated correctly now, but the brightness is now pulsing and the colors wont align. when the picture was upside down i could align everything and brightness was steady. i swapped the six connectors as shown,maybe i missed some thing. will look the the manual some more .

reset all settings, be sure the picture is not running of the sides of the tubes.
