First let me say I'm so glad a friend of mine recommended this forum. I've learned more in the past few days than I have since I started saving for a new tv 6 months ago. Now that I have the cash, I've narrowed it down to 4 sets. I have been to BB and CC more than I'd like to admit and simply can't decide which set is right for me. I will be using the tv for gaming(FPS & Sports), moderate tv watching(mostly sports) and movies. Glare is not that big a concern for me because I typically keep my place fairly ambient. I'm not too concerned about all the IR and burn in hubbub. However, I don't have a sound system, so speaker quality is sort of a concern for me. Here is what I've narrowed down with their pros/cons:

Sammy - LN52A550 -
Pros: Great price/picture, minimal glare. Best picture for cheapest price.
Cons: Not 120Hz

Sammy - LN52A650 -
Pros: Unbelievable picture
Cons: Cost, speaker quality? Does have a lot of glare... even for me.

Sammy - PN50A550 -
Pros: Beautiful picture, great price.
Cons: None yet... speakers?

Panny - TH-50PZ800U -
Pros: Fanstastic picture
Cons: Cost

I say "cost" meaning I hope they come down within the next few weeks, when I plan to pull the trigger. I can afford them now, but I have a feeling they'll come down soon.

I'd hate to turn this into another LCD vs. Plasma flame, that's not what I'm looking for. Just some info of why one of these sets is right for me.

I view them at the store you and let that make you decision. Personally I like the ln52a550 over the pn50a500. If you can afford the LN52A650 it is going for 2,300 shipped on amazon. Use gold box trick and get it for 2,200. Otherwise use goldbox trick and get a LN52a550 and save few dollars.. Just not as much a fan of the plasma tvs.. TH-50PZ800U is much better then pn50a500.

Yes, the more I look at the LN650, I like it. But I must say the 800U is probably what I'll go with. Unfortunately, not many stores have the 800U! I think I've seen one 46'' at BB. If I decide to go the cheaper route, I'm diggin the LN550.

Being the difference in price is small and in real world use the ln52a650 is the better TV.

I almost bought the samsung plasma but read too many issues with IR and burn-in. The PN50A550 has a better picture over-all but I watch alot of movies with 4:3 and 16:9 black bars. To worry about iIR and burn-in every time I play a video game or have a movie night is annoying. The day plasmas have no burn-in or IR consider me a buyer. Because they do have the better picture.
