Thinking about picking up Ratchet & Clank for the PS3 as my second PS3 game. My first game was Uncharted and I've played through that in about 10 hours....and subsequently sold it since I really didn't see much replay value in the game. I just really don't care about going through it again on a higher difficulty if it's still the same basic game with no big upgrades, unlocked areas, etc. I really enjoyed Uncharted, but thought it was pretty short and lacking in repaly value.

So that just had me wondering about Ratchet and Clank. I've downloaded and played the demo, and this game also looks amazing. Great graphics and a fun shooter/platformer that I think I would enjoy....and that my daughter could probably play some as well.

However, wondering about the replay value of this game. Is there any? Is there more of a reason to play through a second time than Uncharted? Are there any mini-games or anything that you can play (ala Mercenaries in Resident Evil 4?).

Trying to decide if I should just rent the game for a weekend or buy it. I could probably pick up a used copy on Ebay for around $25. Is it worth it? Is this a longer game to play through than Uncharted? More replay value?

R&C Future did not impress me. Overall, much too easy and unexciting, though the weapons were pretty cool it was easy to max out most of them.

HOWEVER, when the game is done it unlocks a mode with a higher difficulty level and a chaining system which gives you more bolts if you kill guys in rapid succession. IMO this is the way the game should have played from the start - throughout the game I kept saying it would've been so much better with a chaining system.

So, just by virtue of that higher difficulty mode which adds the chaining system I would say the game has more replay value than Uncharted.

R&C has slightly more replay value than Uncharted...but not much. Your motivation being that ontop of a more challenging difficulty setting, you can continue to search for missing pieces of the a super gun which you can eventually construct.

Overall, R&C has been my favorite PS3 game (COD4 and other cross-platforms I always play on the 360), followed by Uncharted.

I would say you should definitely pick it up. $25 on ebay is a steal for a fantastic game.

you'll get more than 10 hours out of R&C to begin with if you really search around for everything, so that alone is worth the game. I was actually excited about going through it again and building the special weapon but like usual I just never really got started with it and moved on to something else. $25 is no questions asked worth it though. Very fun game.

Skill Point unlocked: No, Up YOUR Arsenal

The hidden weapon (R&C fans already know its name, but no need to spoiler it) is obscenely powerful to the point of being game-breaking, even in V1 form. Cranking it up to the level where you get the aforementioned skill point is ... yeah. :D

Fun as hell though.

I would say the replay value is pretty good, in that it's the first game I've actually ever replayed in 20-odd years of gaming. :p

As mentioned, it's not too hard to max out your weapons the first time through (getting them up to version 5), but on subsequent play-throughs, you can buy Omni versions of each, which bumps them up to V6, and allows them to progress to V10. Upgrading a weapon to Omni status costs millions of bolts however, so I don't think you'd be able to get all 20-ish weapons to Omni status with just one more play-through. (Still going through my second.) There's new armor to buy as well, which ain't cheap. ;)

Also, not only are they enemies substantially tougher in Challenge Mode, they mix up the placement just enough to keep you on your toes.

Beautiful game, but too short and easy for me.

The first time I played Up your Aresenol on PS2 I was blown away by all the content and minigames.

Tools of Destruction fell a little short in my opinion. I had very high hopes for the game, and while it is a great game, it didn't capture me and have me laughing like Up you Aresenol did.

Getting you weapons up to VX status does take some time, at least 2 play throughs.

Funny enough, I put the game in last night to see it on my new TV and my character is near the second completion. My bolt count is 122,000,000 and I have nothing left to buy.

Still on the fence about buying the game.....might make for a good week rental from what I'm gathering.

I'm just not huge on playing through games a second time unless there are some big reasons to do so....and if there is going to be some differences of substance the second time through.

Basically sounds to me like all I'd be doing is making my weapons more powerful the second trip through.....same basic weapons and boards...just more powerful weapons and maybe a slightly higher difficulty.

With the game having no two player option...and no on-line play, I kinda doubt it's gonna hold up for me.

Sounds like a game I could rent for a week and probably come pretty close to finishing...or at least see most of the game.

I don't know....may still give it a shot though if I could get it for around $20.

anyone heard anything about a patch coming out soon for multiplayer? I thought I read something some pirate DLC is coming for it.. or was it something related to HOME?

My friend's little boy just plays the game over and over and over again, he never seems to get bored with it. But I guess you're asking about replayability for yourself right? :)

Edited for the typo :P

Supposedly, there will be some DLC for it called "Quest for Booty," but that's about all we know about it.

I would pick it up used. This was my first time with the R&C series, and I was very impressed. Great graphics and solid game play. It's the first time I've ever played through a game 5 times. I much preferred it to COD4.

it has good replay value because there are several weapons to upgrade. took me a couple play-throughs to max out everything.

for single-player games, replay value is subjective... it really depends on how much you like the game. personally, R&C is one of my favorite ps3 titles and i definitely enjoyed it more than i thought.
