im at work right now, dont hav my info on me - but the sammy bdup 5k? what is the manufacturer warranty? Is it one year from purchase that I can send it back to them to replace/fix w/o having any other extended warranties?
and what happens now if you brick a player or it cannot be fixed since its discontinued? does sammy send u a comparable BD player in its place?
Depends where you bought it. If from an authorized dealer, then I think it's 1 year parts and labor. If factory refurbed, then it's 90 days. If ebay from an unauthorized dealer or refurbed but non-factory, then there's no warranty attached to it.

If ebay from an unauthorized dealer
If new I imagine that's a grey area and Samsung may (or may not) help you.

I don't think LG will ever honor any warrenty on a Samsung product, regardless where you bought it :)

ok - i was having issues with freezing, but i think it had to do with the heat coming from my hd dtv box...just hoping it didnt damage the player and that it was only when it got hot
it would only happen on long movies i noticed..i've since separated them (with my old sammy sd dvd player - i knew it could still serve some purpose) and ill try it out - i just want to make sure samsung has to honor it - i bought it from best buy so i can produce the receipt for them...

Correction, 1 year parts and 90 days labor (I think they add another 30 days if you register online).

Whats the point, you know it'll break on day 91!

Close, they add 90 days with online registration, although I got no confirmation of that when I did it.
Nor is it clear if the 90 days is added to only the 'labor' the 'parts' or both?
No diff, I paid Vann's another $29 for 2 year extension warranty, something I rarely advocate.
By spending extra for an ext. warranty I increased the chances nothing will break. So maybe it IS worth it! LOL

You should see the 90 Days in the expiration date of the service on your web account page......I know at least on mine it said when my service and labor ended...

Thanks! And it's a good thing I checked, I don't see any additional coverage promised upon registration. I will contact them.
