I am doing another Mythbuntu 8.04 build with a Kworld 115 card.

The card is detected fine, I set up the capture card and video sources from Schedules Direct, then do a channel scan.

I am on WoW basic cable, which has the SE Michigan over the air (OTA) stations as QAM-256 unencrypted.

The scan completes fine, adding all the available unencrypted digital stations.

The problem is, about 50 or so Music Channels (MC) are added, too.

I quit the Backend Setup, run Myth Databasefill, then launch the Frontend, then Watch TV. The Tv channels are all fine, but if I go above the last (highest) digital TV channel and hit a MC, the Front end errors out and goes back to the Main menu.

How do I delete the MC's? I don't want them to begin with, but they keep getting added during the channel scan. I've tried unchecking "Add Audio-only channels" in the backend setup, and also tried removing all channels at Schedules Direct, including the MC's, except for the unencrypted channels I want.

Backend setup channel editor. Select one and hit the D key iirc.

Stupid me, and I kept trying the "Del"ete key ;)

You can also delete them all at once from mythweb's channel editor.

You can also remove them from your lineup (if they're there) at scheduled direct..

I tried that, and Myth still "counted' the MC's.

Oh, you did SCAN for channels. Der. :)

I guess that once you know which channels don't work it might be easier to remove them in SD and then "fetch from source" if there's a ton of them.

I definitely agree that Mythweb is the easiest way to go. Just check the box on the channels you want gone and delete them. I think you can increase the video timeout value or something on the channels themselves to see if the mc channels lock in. Mine are long deleted.
