View Full Version : Just got Sony Visa for PS3/ MGS4 deal redshift1 06-02-08, 03:40 PM Plan to purchase MGS4 with Sony Visa for $100.00 off. Anyone else doing the same and where do you plan to buy it. I live in CA and am looking to avoid CA tax and possibly get free shipping. Any thoughts ? serversurfer 06-02-08, 04:07 PM Wal-Mart is currently offering a $100 gift card with the purchase of a 40 GB PS3, and supposedly, the week that MGS4 launches, this offer will be extended to "many" of their BD players, including any PS3s they happen to be stocking at the time. When combined, that means you could get your MGS4 bundle for the effective price of $299, which is a pretty sweet deal. RusticR6 06-02-08, 04:10 PM how long did it take for approval? redshift1 06-02-08, 04:13 PM I saw that, so far it's the best deal i've seen thanks redshift1 06-02-08, 04:15 PM I applied on-line it took almost a month to receive card. Rakesh.S 06-02-08, 05:22 PM good luck *finding* an mgs 4 80 gb ps3 the day it comes out - ebay sellers are going to be all over it. islewarrior 06-02-08, 07:28 PM good luck *finding* an mgs 4 80 gb ps3 the day it comes out - ebay sellers are going to be all over it. yep for those with a ps3 already no problem getting the game on the 12th. but for those waiting for the bundle to play mgs4 could be a problem. this launch for mgs4 could turn real ugly fast. hope sony and konami know what they are doing. redshift1 06-02-08, 07:46 PM yep for those with a ps3 already no problem getting the game on the 12th. but for those waiting for the bundle to play mgs4 could be a problem. this launch for mgs4 could turn real ugly fast. hope sony and konami know what they are doing. I don't expect to get one on the 12th, afterward I expect many for sale from various vendors. I waited this long what's an extra week or two. TornadoTJ 06-02-08, 08:33 PM Good luck getting both goodies at once. It does not appear you will get $100 credit if you use the card at WalMart: Your first single sales receipt purchase made at a SonyStyle store, including SonyStyle.com equal or greater than $299 ("Qualifying Purchase") will automatically qualify you for a $100 Statement Credit. csgamer 06-02-08, 08:42 PM good luck *finding* an mgs 4 80 gb ps3 the day it comes out - ebay sellers are going to be all over it. It might be a little tough, sure you may need to get to the store a little early, and it will probably sell out everywhere 1st day, but it probably won't be that tough to get one. All the crazy sony fans already have their ps3. If ebayers make any profit, i can't see them making much. redshift1 06-02-08, 08:42 PM Good luck getting both goodies at once. Thanks for the info, where did you get that information I've been looking for that.... Conspiracy* 06-02-08, 08:46 PM Thanks for the info, where did you get that information I've been looking for that.... There were people claiming to have gotten their credit after buying off of amazon and whatnot I thought. redshift1 06-02-08, 09:08 PM There were people claiming to have gotten their credit after buying off of amazon and whatnot I thought. I did see that Amazon claim from one of the threads on this forum. The literature that came with my card does not mention the $100.00 I'll call tomorrow see what if any limits exist. TornadoTJ 06-02-08, 09:24 PM Thanks for the info, where did you get that information I've been looking for that.... sonystyle.com when I went to apply for the same exact card. Shoot it's looks like your right, still not a bad deal i'll call sony anyway.. thanks for post TornadoTJ 06-02-08, 09:37 PM Believe me, I thought the same thing as you and applied, $200 off / paying $199 was too dang appealing to me (even if $100 of it was technically a gift card)... and saw that in the fine print AFTER I applied. redshift1 06-02-08, 09:42 PM Believe me, I thought the same thing as you and applied, $200 off / paying $199 was too dang appealing to me (even if $100 of it was technically a gift card)... and saw that in the fine print AFTER I applied. Also no cancellation fee for card. Anthony1 06-03-08, 01:05 AM on the slickdeals.com forum, tons of people claim that you can get the $100 credit no matter where you use the Sony card, you don't have to use it at the Sony Style store. This has been confirmed numerous times, at least according to the peeps at slickdeals.com. The big problem though, is if you apply for the card, you aren't going to get it in time for the $100 Blu Ray gift card promotion. By the time you get the physical card, the gift card promotion will have ended. TornadoTJ 06-03-08, 05:12 AM Actually, my card came today. Do you know any way to confirm (someone to call) this? I will go buy one at WalMart tomorrow if this is the case. I read through the last few pages and I didn't see any mention of confirmed usage of the card and receiving the rebate. TornadoTJ 06-03-08, 10:49 AM OK, looks like there are several different Sony card deals. I'm going to call and see if I can have mine converted today... http://sonycard.sony.com/sonygateway/gateway.asp?offerlink=sonycardps3c100&PID=none&SPID=B7RY&CELL=6064&MSC=&AFFID=&CLICK=&CID=&PROMO=DF01 Management 06-03-08, 12:46 PM Crap I just started a thread about this. I applied today. Someone said that it took a month to get the card? That's nuts. TornadoTJ, how long did it take for you to get your card. Also, you think that all the deals should apply to the card. Does it matter which link you use to open the card? Anthony1 06-03-08, 01:27 PM Actually, my card came today. Do you know any way to confirm (someone to call) this? I will go buy one at WalMart tomorrow if this is the case. I read through the last few pages and I didn't see any mention of confirmed usage of the card and receiving the rebate. I've read probably 20 pages of that thread on slick deals, and it seems that it's a well known fact that you "DO NOT" have to use the card at the Sony Style store. You can use it at Wal-Mart, and it will work. At least, if everybody in that thread is to be believed. Actually, if you do a search on slickdeals.com for threads that contain "PS3" in the title, you'll find another thread that specifically discusses this exact issue. Also, apparently alot of people are applying for the Sony Style card now, and they are going to Wal-Mart and buying the PS3 with cash, or another credit card or something, and then when they get their Sony Style card in the mail, they plan on returning the PS3, and repurchasing it with the Sony Style card. This way, they get to keep the $100 Blu Ray gift card, and they also get the $100 credit on their Sony Style credit card statement, so they end up getting the PS3 for $299, and keep a $100 Blu Ray gift card. Then they pay off the balance of the Sony card and cancel it. Yeah, it's alot of hoops to jump through, but it should work. superklye 06-03-08, 02:01 PM Wal-Mart is currently offering a $100 gift card with the purchase of a 40 GB PS3, and supposedly, the week that MGS4 launches, this offer will be extended to "many" of their BD players, including any PS3s they happen to be stocking at the time. No, you get it for the effective price of $399 and you get an additional $100 to spend in-store at Walmart. You can't retroactively apply that gift card to the PS3 and you can't use it at the time of purchase to lower the cost. It's $400 plain and simple. redshift1 06-03-08, 03:22 PM I've read probably 20 pages of that thread on slick deals, and it seems that it's a well known fact that you "DO NOT" have to use the card at the Sony Style store. UPDATE: Just called Sony regarding rebate eligibility promotion on the Chase card. For my card they said purchase must be made through Sony-Style in order to receive the $100.00 rebate. Purchases of Sony products from other vendors do not qualify. Now if someone has a reliable way to circumvent this limitation please let the forum know. As for the Slick Deals commentary I have no idea as to their credibility. TornadoTJ 06-03-08, 03:33 PM Redshift, could you please post the phone number? TornadoTJ 06-03-08, 03:45 PM OK, I'm going to call and see if I can convert my card to the other promotion. I've had success with this in the past. redshift1 06-03-08, 03:50 PM OK, I'm going to call and see if I can convert my card to the other promotion. I've had success with this in the past. Let us all know the outcome... now if Sony would just put the mgs4 bundle up for sale, they are really dragging this out TornadoTJ 06-03-08, 04:10 PM I've been transferred 3 times and nobody knows what the heck I'm talking about. I was on the phone with Sirius yesterday, this seems like deja vu. TornadoTJ 06-03-08, 04:19 PM The current offer is the one I posted earlier. There was an OLDER promotion available, but if you fill that out, you won't get the current offer. I told them that there's no expiration date on the offer on the website and he said "we will file an inquiry and get back with you in a week". Gee, thanks. Management 06-03-08, 06:36 PM redshift1, thanks again for the update. I will wait and see if Sony puts the bundle on their site. Till then (and receiving the card) I'll get it from Walmart. redshift1 06-03-08, 08:15 PM redshift1, thanks again for the update. I will wait and see if Sony puts the bundle on their site.
