well i have decided to not do a TV stand, and instead mount the TV to the wall and build an in wall rack.. my studs are still exposed, so i will have to move one over and do some bracing to build a rack that is 24" wide. i will most likely just do it out of black painted MDF with shelving clips inside, but that is yet to be determined.

I have a closet under the stairs that is going to hold the back portion of the rack and have my connections in it. my question is this: for the power and HDMI cable that go to the TV, the easiest way is just to get one of those wall plates with a hole in it and run the cables through the wall into the closet, to the back of the receiver, outlets, etc, right?

The centerline of the TV should be about 30" off i have read, then with the plate used to mount the TV, i am wondering at what height off the floor i should mount this box and plate to run my cables through for the TV? Or i can just wait until i actually get the TV and plate to install this box as the wall behind it will be left open to the closet. this might actually work out the best.

Thanks,
Brandon
