I watched the Preakness for about 2 hours solely because they had a beautiful HD picture. Natural sunlight, beautiful horses, colorful jockey silks, all made for a great picture. Even from the blimp, the picture was great.
I hope the Belmont looks as good.
DeeKaye07 06-03-08, 07:15 PM We just got ESPN/ESPN2 HD not long ago, so this year's race is going to be great. I can't wait to watch...could be history in the making, finally!

dcowboy7 06-06-08, 09:17 AM i wonder if weather factors in now:
mostly sunny, humid, 94F.
thoroughbreds, unlike harness horses, sometimes get affected by hot/humid weather, and with the 100,000+ crowd and alot of time to kill before post time it could come into play.
**** Big Brown, **** Dutrow and **** Desormeaux. Casino Drive is taking this. GO PRADO.
Desormeaux rode Casino Drive in the Peter Pan. He said he was one hell of a horse. You may be right. It may be a match race but I think BB will take it.

dcowboy7 06-06-08, 07:50 PM interesting that both horses now have hoof problems....casino even missed his friday workout.

Oh well... DENIS OF CORK FTW!!!!!!!!!
dcowboy7 06-07-08, 12:21 PM wonder if a horse ever went off at 1-9 in the belmont ?
1115 hrs CDT --- Big Brown going crazy in the barn. Rearing and bucking. He had better settle down . There is a long time before the race. Casino Drive to fly back to Japan tonight. We will probably see him in the Breeders Cup. It's a shame he got hurt. I think he was the only horse that could have made it a race.
dcowboy7 06-07-08, 04:57 PM big brown is 1-4.
WABC-DT via Cablevision
since the switch from ESPN to ABC at 5 pm, the sound and video quality has clearly diminished
hopefully it'll get fixed during this commercial break
URFloorMatt 06-07-08, 05:24 PM I think that's just subchannels at work, jpr. Also I think I'd take the ESPN ticker over that full color ABC logo, even if it is pretty small.
WJLA-TV via Comcast in Arlington. Looked better on ESPN.
Viewing WXYZ-DT ABC Detroit OTA. Looks and sounds good.
Expecting to see history made today.
Looks and sounds good on WFTV Orlando FL

Run4two 06-07-08, 06:46 PM Big Brown looked tired from the get go. Either his head was pumping like a piston up and down (much more than the other horses) because Kent was pulling back, or the horse just didn't have it. And I'm not talking about near the end when Kent was clearly pulling up and Biggie's head started going side to side as well.
mikey mo 06-07-08, 07:21 PM While the race result was disappointing to many, horse racing got a huge PR boost by the jockey not "beating" the horse. This helps counter the protests lodged after the Derby. Well Done.
