Ok I've had receivers from Onkyo, Panasonic, Pioneer, Yamaha and Marantz and now HK in my system, this is the first HK I've used.

When Level matching the speakers with the past receivers the settings were basically the same, give or take a db or two for correction.

With this HK the speaker settings are normal in comparison to each other with past receivers, except for the sub. If I run the sub level matched with the RS SPL meter the sub pounds and overwhelms everything even at the lowest of volumes. I have to adjust it -7 or -8 in relation to the other speakers just to get it tolerable when it fact with the past receivers I ran the sub a few db hot.

Can the LFE output signal vary that much between receivers. I would expect a little difference but this is major and considering the number of receivers I've had in the same system with everything else being the same I find it odd this is the only one that's different.

Also sorry if this belongs in the receiver forum but it's a question specific to the LFE output so I was torn.

receiver test tones. I haven't had a chance to run avia yet. Probably won't till this weekend. I just adjusted the sub gain down to adjust for the higher ouput an now it's barely above min. Just found it interesting that this receiver has sooo much more output through the LFE connection than the others. I can't imagine all HKs are like this or I would have read about it by now.

I would definitely try AVIA especially since it uses redirected bass, and not LFE, to calibrate the subwoofer channel. (Of course your speakers must be set to SMALL.) You still may find with AVIA that the HK's subwoofer channel is hotter than what you are accustomed to, but the calibration should take care of that. If you find you have to turn the sub's level trim in the receiver too far down, then turn up the sub's own volume so as to get the trim setting closer to 0dB.

Yeah that's what I've done so far, turned the gain down on the sub, it's barely above MIN or 0 and with past receivers it's been around 30% higher on the dial. My avr sub setting is 0. That's an huge difference from other AVRs I've calibrated in this system. Definitely can't say I'm overdriving the sub trough the gain knob now lol.

I'll break out Avia this weekend when I have some time to sit down for a while and see what that looks like.
