View Full Version : Problem muxing h264 and 2 audiostreams
mamumamu 06-03-08, 06:51 PM Hi guys,
I'm from Germany but I'll do my best to describe my problem:
I have an HD movie in an mkv-container. I extracted the streams with mkvextract and I got 1 Videostream and 2 Audiostreams (AC3).
Then I converted the AC3 audiostreams with BeSweet into two AAC Files (5.1 bitrate 256).
My goal is to mux them into a PS3-compatible container, and after having tried several programs without any success, my last hope was MeGUI.
So I opened MeGUI and the tool "mp4muxer" that comes with it.
I opened the h246 videofile (which I had to rename to .246 in order to open it) and I opened the two audiostreams (AAC).
Then I muxed it into a mp4 container.
On my PC it works but when I burned it on a DVD and tried to play it on the PS3 it says "DATA DEFECT"
Can anybody tell me what the problem is?
Did I make a mistake?
I've spent so many hours on this so I would appreciate your help very much.
Thank you !

I use RedKawa and don't have those issues.
ps3 will default to dd, or none if 2 audio streams
mamumamu 06-04-08, 03:38 AM @zoro: So you're saying, there's no way whatsoever to get an HD movie with two audio streams running on PS3 ?

I have tried TVERSITY goes bizark when more than 1 soundtrack, occasionaly will pick, lesser evil, that is DD e.g 192KBPS 2 channel etc. I'll recommend reauthor in only one soundtrack, convert to BD mode, burn as AVCHD, might be able to keep 2 tracks. I am trying to see if I could do so?
mamumamu 06-04-08, 04:27 PM It does not even work with one audio stream.
I muxed with MeGUI. Videostream (264) and an AAC 5.1 with 256kbit.
When burned on a DVD the PS3 shows "data defect"
Any idea what the problem could be?

You need to use h264info (on Windows, don't use Windows so can't speak for this but that's what I've read) or a plain hex editor and change the h264 video from h264 high profile 5.1 to 4.1, in hex editor it's changing 33 to 29 in the first row, about the 8th byte or so.
Also, I've never had success with 5.1 AAC, plays half speed or double speed or just doesn't work, 2ch AAC works fine.
There is another thread on BR burn here, check that for way out. PS3 does not like 2 audios, does not like subs, both in .ts or AVCHD. Btw just an update. I could successfully do DTS 755KBPS on AVCHD burnt on disc, played back on ps3 successfully. It was rip of FACE OFF UK. sounds amazing.
So keep only one audio for ur choice. .ts, PCM 5.1, DD, 2 and 5 channel works for me. For AVCHD DD, and DTS both work, bravo!

Update!! So, failure of PCM was due to dual track lol, as I was saying previously. I was able to successfully make sole PCM 5.1, and DTS copies of my BR AVCHD and they played back like charm on my beloved PS3. Darn! I thought DTS was amazing as bullet coming toward Sean in beginning of Face off felt really coming into me, but PCM 5.1 was simply unbelievable! I felt it did hit me and I got pushed back..lol

I do that with TV episodes. 5.1 audio and 720p makes House so much better.
