Hay guys I have been running my hd1000 straight from my ps3 via hdmi for about 1700hrs now..

Well last night I hooked up my new Yamaha rx-663 in the loop and I noticed right away the p/q looked brighter and sharper..

I have been staring at this thing pretty critically over the last year, so I can say confidently that what I'm seeing is not a placebo effect..I think.

I ran my dve bd disk and both contrast and brightness needed to go down from 6 on each to 2 respectivly...The receiver is set for straight video (no upscaling)..

So dose having a receiver in line "help" the process, cause it defiantly "looks" sharper, deeper, brighter.....

Oh and dts-ma FTW!!!!! I can't belive how much better and cleaner the sound is now through this receiver...:D:D

More than likely what you are seeing is the Yamaha changing the levels and it needs to be adjusted accordingly . The Yamaha will not pass below 16 or above 235 (so no BTB or WTW information) . You should check to see what your PS3 is set to ouput , make sure it is not set to FULL / RGB since the Yamaha will only pass 16-235 .
