I recently purchased this item , mostly to transfer home movies from VHS to DVD. Didnt see anything about this item here, anybody know about it? Also for home movie transfer do you guys think I need to use archive grade(gold)dvd's or is there other one's just as good...thanks...Mario

I have this, and it was working fine for a long time. years?
Now it is starting to get real finicky about playing DVD's.
CD's still start right away, but
DVD's, even ones that would play before are not being accepted.
Sometimes they will play after 3 or 4 "reloads". Some never play.
Turning the unit off and on, unplugging, doesn't seem to matter.
You can take one disc out that refuses to play and put in another one from the very same box set and it will start up.
It is not about scratched or dirty discs either.
I can't detect a pattern yet.
