Anyone pick up this game yet?

My wife enjoyed Lego Star Wars II so much (our wedding cake topper was a Lego Star Wars scene), that she was really excited when she found out this was coming out. She went and bought the game herself yesterday.

Played the first 2 levels yesterday, and we had some fun. It's a bit different from Lego Star Wars, so it took some getting used to.

Your impressions?

I noticed that there was a v-sync option, but it was turned off by default? Not sure why that was...any insights?

Anyone managed to find the all 10 treasures on the first Chapter of Raiders? We couldn't find the 10th piece, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it's on top of a rope that we couldn't get to because we didn't have Marion yet.

I bought the game as it is based on my favorite film series, but haven't played it yet (never played Lego Star Wars). My daughter and I will fire it up tonight since she's a fan of the films too. I'll give my thoughts then.

As for V-Synch, you turn it on if you want a stable frame rate that never fluctuates. The negative is that you'll sometimes have screen tearing when the camera pans and there is a lot of graphic information being processed. Turn it off to remove tearing, but your frame rate can noticeably drop when the on-screen action gets intense.

For examples, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune has V-Synch on the entire game, and Grand Theft Auto IV appears to have it off.

I plan on picking it up tonight to play it with my son. I will let you know what we think. He loved Lego Star Wars! I hope he likes this one.

I'm curious about this game and the Lego version of Star Wars. Is there any dialog or just music in the backgroud?

The "dialog" is a sort of muffled exclaimations, grumbles etc. There's no words but the expressions of the characters coupled with the emotion conveyed by the tone of the sounds (again no words) do an excellent job of conveying what's going on.
Also, I'd assume it's 10 times funnier for those of us obsessed with the movies than those not.

got it for 360(has the same v-sync option though after 2 hours of playing I haven't noticed any frame rate drops with v-sync on). It's really funny and has a lot of replayability too it. searching for the hidden items is less annoying with game since well your indy and thats his job. Plus they made a point of making the hidden items more fun to obtain than just finding a hidden switch or some legos to construct. My copy had a sticker on it with a code to unloack treassure magnet. Anyoner else geta code and is it the same one?

I never played any Lego series and I must say that I am really tempted to try the Lego Starwars, the Complete Saga. Looks like lots of fun. Lego Indiana Jones looks great also.
Wonder if they'll ever make a lego MGS, Spiderman, Matrix or Lord of the rings. So much possibilities with Legos.

They had a poll on IGN who was planning on buying it and on what platform. The results were 52% selected NONE of them. LOL 20% X-box 360 and 12 % PS3..

Awwww, I kinda hoped the game would quote the movies. For instance, it'd be awesome if everytime you tried to enter a code for free extras you would hear Short Round say, "You cheat Dr. Jones! Playing with you, NO FUN!"

all the 360 acheivements quote the movies. the very quote you mentioned is one of them. you'd be surprised and how well the talking sounds emulate teh scenes and dialog. Stragely a lot of SFX from the star wars games are intact. Like when you collect enough lego buttons to unlock the true adventurer status on a level it stioll sounds like a x-wing taking off.

Yes, there are alot of Star Wars innuendos throughout the game...

I am through the 4 first levels and achieved True Adventurer status on each...

Although, that doesnt mean all that much as I missed about 35-40% of the rest of the unlockables...

You must complete the game then go back through each level on freeplay to acheive 100% complete status...probably takes 3 times as long as it will to complete the story mode...

It's a great co-op game, and it got my wife hooked (and she still claims she's not a gamer).

In November (?) 2008, Lego Batman is coming out.

I've seen a commercial at the Lego store that had a parody of the train scene in Spiderman 2, but in Lego. Quite the possibility.

I was all set to buy this game, but after reading some of the reviews, I may give it a rent this weekend to see if it is worth it. I still am only about 35% complete with GTA IV and with MGS4 coming out next week, I've got my plate full, and that is if I decide NOT to pick up Grid or Ninja Gaiden II.

Well, its def worth a rent at the very least imo......If you plan on playing co-op its a must buy....

A great game for people who are OCD and love completing a game 100%....

Its not annoying either because your indy and basically the game is to explore anyway....

its cool how they intertwine the characters and how you need to use certain characters in certain situations...

Any one having problems with this game locking up on them? I just bought a PS3 for Blu-ray and this game, and it locks up all the time. I am using HDMI, after you press the start button and it loads the travel scene and shows a little red line to the temple map, and just sits there. Then when I press the controller ps button to quit the game and confirm the game just locks up. I have to hit the power button on the back to get it to come back. I have played a bdrom, and it works fine, and downloaded a trailer and no problems noted. It almost seems that this game is buggy or something, since I only have one game I have no other to determine if the console is bad or not.

I just played it on my PS3 for a couple of hours and I was a little dissapointed. First of all, I expected it to contain all 4 films, but the game is just based on the first three movies. Second, the game "creates" many new situations and places that aren't found in the movies. I would recommned it only if you enjoyed lego star wars, and if you haven't yet played lego star wars, get it and see if you like it. If you don't like lego star wars then you almost certainly won't like lego indiana jones. All that being said, the graphics were amazing.

So basically they based it on the three good movies. And Lego Star Wars didn't keep strict to the story line either.

Two things:
Did anyone catch Luke frozen to the ceiling in Raiders? Look close on the level where you are running in the frozen villiage. He's on the ceiling in a cave just in the background. My wife caught it in the background. We were laughing so hard at that.

Second- WE NEED HELP!!! Second movie last level in the mine carts. We must have drove around in that stupid loop for 2 hours last night trying to figure out which order to smack the signals on the side. My wife said "Ya know, we are two smart, college educated adults and we can't figure this out and there's some little 8 year old brat that probably figured it out in 2 minutes...."

If anyone has a tip for this section please post it in a spoiler as to not ruin it for anyone else. HELP!!!!

I haven't even played the level yet but I'd imagine that they'd make it accurate to the movie in that you should take the left tunnel. I'm probably way off though like said I haven't finished the raiders section yet.

I pre-ordered this from GS. Received a call and went to pick it up last night on the way home. No luck.... They claimed they were all there in the drawer with labels for the pre-orders earlier in the day. Guess they sold mine. I was able to locate one at another store and picked it up there. So much for the pre-order process.

Anyway, my son loves the game. He played it for about a 1/2 hour last night and again this morning before school for about 20 mins. I only played co-op with him for about 5 minutes, but I like the game. I don't have the highest standards for these things, so maybe I am not the best judge. For me, I am just looking for something that is relatively age appropriate for him that we can play together and have fun. I think the graphics are very nice. From what I have seen, it does follow the story line. My son said he likes the way Indiana Jones fights with the wip.

He really enjoyed Lego Star Wars. This plays quite similar to Lego Star Wars. I would say if you enjoyed that, you will enjoy this as well.

RE: Any one having problems with this game locking up on them?

I just wanted to say I fixed my problem is was a dirty new disk, after a good cleaning I was able to solve my problems. The load times were faster as well, I would not of thought that new disks would be so bad. I have only had this problem a few times on new disks, some times they have a residue or something.

I like the game and think the added scenes are not that off track. I have noticed that using the second character is sometimes a better move for instance killing bugs and snakes with a shovel instead of the whip works better. I have also noticed that using the whip to collect items is a hit and miss thing. For instance if you want to collect a bottle or something with the whip sometimes you hit the nearby items instead of collecting the item. Or if a enemy is nearby you will hit them instead of getting the needed item. I also noticed that with Indy you sometimes will do cool tricks with enemies but it is not something you can do over and over again. For instance headlocks, and hip throws, stuff like that.

i've always maintained that GS pre-order is a way of getting your money and then forgetting about you. i know too many people that've been burned in the same way by GS. they do everything but hold your kids hostage to try and get you to preorder eveything in the store, and when they have your $$ you're commited to get the game there and it's up to the dingbats behind the counter who decide if they're gonna keep a copy for you or sell it to the next person through the door. they just don't care.

anyway...

i'm gonna pick this game up later today, i've heard nothing but good things from several different people. does it have an online co-op? not a deal breaker, just curious. i guess i could find out when i pick it up... you know what... nevermind...:o

We didn't pre-order, and got lucky because it was the last sealed copy at the store.

**SPOILER**
Go back with a rocket launcher or grenade and blast the ice wall. It frees Luke and you can walk around in there. If you free, I think, all 5 Star Wars character, you can unlock Han Solo. In Raiders: C3PO is in Ch 1 (behind the silver wall on the other side of the idol room. Luke is in Ch 2, behind the Ice Wall. Chewbaca is in Ch 3, in one of the Military rooms (requires a hat or soldier) that goes to a Mos Eisley Canteena bar with a jazz version of the Indiana Jones main title. You need a small person to get there. The other 2 are in Temple of Doom, but I haven't gotten that far yet.

Co-op is great. You have to work together to do puzzles. This can be done by yourself, but it's more fun when working someone else. My only complaint is that there's no way to turn off Team Kill, so my wife and I end up accidentally killing each other.

I hate to admit it, but I currently expect such a low level of customer service that I just rolled with it. Just one example - my cable company. Next Monday will be their fourth trip to my house in 9 days (not including one trip I made to their service center). Apparently my cable company doesn't have cable boxes. But, they schedule appointments to bring me one...I stay home from work and wait.....and they show up without a box. From this and other experiences, GS selling my pre-ordered game seemed normal. I think I would have been more concerned if it was actually there. :)

GS called a few local stores for me and found one that wasn't that far away. Even though there was no game, they gave me the shirt. It worked out, my son was quite happy.

Next time, though, I think I will pay more attention to figuring out whether locating the game will really be that difficult before plunking down my cash.

see dish network jerked me arounbd like that too. 6 RMA's on my HD DVR and they still couldn't ship me a proper unit. so I asked for a the latest model the 722 and they said yeah they could upgrade me for free considering teh circumstances. they transfer me to billing and billing says sorry there's no way they'd do that. SO I explained they could do that or I was cancelling mys ervice that day. so I cancelled. Mind you handl;ing gamestop is different but ultimately the company needs to lose your money it's teh only way they learn.BTW I'm off cable now and my only regret is not having access to PPV for MMA events.
Interestingly enough dish now calls me periodically to offer me a 722 for free if I resign with them. Feels good to just say no.

I'm on Raiders, Ch 5. My wife and I replay the levels we beat in Free Mode to get what we can. Some, we'll have to wait until we start Temple of Doom.

As for the spoiler, I came across the first one from Raiders, Ch 1 when I was exploring the level in Free Mode. My wife checked GameFaqs, and it mentioned how many there were and what you get for finding them all (trying to be as vague as possible as to not ruin any secrets). Actually, I think my wife was wrong about the remaining 2 secrets.

Can't help you with the mine level. I'm not that far yet. You can try and post the question on GameFaqs though.

Come on! I would think that by now it’s self-explanatory that every game can be compared to GOW (Gears of War/God of War, doesn’t matter) and RE. It’s like saying “Ug” after a groin pull. Automatic. Extensive lunges while sitting on your couch playing Dark Sector for 5 hours can also give you groin pulls. It’s all tied together. Like leaves on a tree. One leaf falls, and someone somewhere puts in a game they think is a lot like RE4, but isn’t quite, but should be. Should be, is the point. And a point doesn’t need to be pointed at. It already is a point, and pointing. Again, trees have lots of points. You see? Perfectly self-explanatory.

I don't think there's any "trick" to it.
The indicators at the top of the screen show how many you've hit (they turn green, but they turn off again if you wait too long to get all of them). You just need to make them all green.
Not really a spoiler, it's just a game mechanic that may not be too intuitive.

MALCOLM_B- PLEASE tell me what you did to beat the stupid mine carts!!!!!! (In spoiler tags of course.)

For me, it really wasn't too difficult, just switch back and forth between the mine carts and swing away. Spoiler-ized, just in case. ;)

Hmm... I wonder if that one signal theat couldn't be hit was a glitch. No target appeared over it and for 2 hours and multiple attempts at different orders never did that one signal get tripped.

Got the game last night. It's a fun game! The hardest part for me is to keep money (treasure?) because I keep losing it all while dying. HA! My 10 year old daughter is going to love playing co-op.

Thankfully, getting the True Adventurer score is much easier than in Lego Star Wars True Jedi score.

I get 2 free rentals at Blockbuster per month, and I always rent a game before I buy it. I got this as a rental and there's no manual.

I noticed in the Options, there's a switch for VSync. I turned it on because I was seeing some tearing in the video when panning. Is this what this is for? If so, why is it off by default?

Second, are the only buttons used in the game the DXO^ and the two joysticks? I can't tell that L1/2 and R1/2 do anything at all.

There was something else I was going to ask, but I can't recall what it was now.

For examples, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune has V-Synch on the entire game, and Grand Theft Auto IV appears to have it off.

actually you got it backward vsync locks the framerate to eliminate tearing it does not introduce tearing. lower end systems will take a performance hit with it enabled but if you've got the juice the lack of tearing makes it worthwhile.

I didn't want to start a whole new thread but I do have a question on this game, I rented it from blockbuster for my daughter and I to play, she wanted to do the controller so mainly I watched as she played, she got to this pond where you build the plane to fly off and these tribe guys keep coming out (as many as you kill more come).

Anyways we got the plane built but can't figure out how to get the propeller picked up and onto the plane!

Anyone been here and know what I am talking about?

Gotta return it monday but might squeek keeping it a day or two extra just to get past that point...

Fun game tho! SO tired of all the shooters on ps3...next i wanna download and try that sid meiers civilization that looks fun too!

there should be two boxes of legos that you'll need which you drop in front of teh plane. Then you just hold B to assemble the plane. Then the plane mechanic(he has a wrench) needs to get on the plane hold B so he can repair it. The level ends at that point.

Woohoo... finally got a chance to play it with my daughter. It's a fantastic game. We're only on level 3 and never played any of the Lego games so we may be going rather slowly at first but it seems to be pretty straight forward with the play mechanics.

One thing though: how do you get out of the school and get back to playing? I couldn't figure it out so we just quit.

UPDATE: I'm sure anyone that has done the mine carts was looking at my post thinking "this guy is an idiot...he couldn't figure THAT out?!"

We rode around in the dam carts for two hours trying to figure out the trick to getting that switch to activate. As mentioned, there was no trick. The next day we fired the game back up and ran straight through it. It appears there was glitch which did not let the second to last signal be targeted. We have noticed a few others as well. My wife got a hefalump stuck in a pit and she just kept dying over and over until we shut off the game.
Still love this game.

Finally did figure out the prop plane and got away, what is funny is at the save point we saw we were only 2.2% done with the game, but were so exhausted from playing we had to take a break hehe..

Fun game tho think we will buy this one...I wil support any NON shooter game (well almost any, I am SO tired of seeing all these shooters coming out for ps3 borrrrrrrrrrrrrrring) I can't wait to try sid meier's civilization that looks fun too!

Out of the school? Do you mean go back into the story mode?

When you start off in the main hall, with the stairs on both sides, run to the wall with maps on them. There are 3 green rugs (anytime you see a green rug at the school, it takes you to whatever that room has). Left map is Raiders. Center map is Temple. And right map is Crusade.

Glad you were able to figure it out. My wife and I just played that level last night and was going to post the solution to it for you this morning.

Haha, I finally found it... thanks. Auto-save was activated so I didn't lose my progress when I shut it off thankfully.
