Let me preface this by saying I know allot more about audio then video and that will be appearant by this post. Let me set the table a bit.
I have a Sony HS-51 projector with Directv fed via HDMI to my Integra pre-amp which is 1.3. I want to add a blu ray player and my question is simply what should do the processing, the projector? Do I have a choice. In other words my pre-amp has excellent (so I have been told) video processing. Now I have the pre-amp set to pass whatever comes to it untouched to the projector. If I were to have my pre-amp set to 1080i wouldn't the projector just reprocess this information anyway? I use the 1080i option for output from my Directv as I never got the crop issue fixed with my projector.
If I add a blu ray player to the mix should I continue to do what I have done in the past and just take the pre-amp out of the mix and pass the signal through untouched by my pre-amp to my projector?
Also, given I do not have a 1080p projector and I ask the blu-ray player to output everything in 1080i am I doing blu ray a huge injustice? By the way I have looked at high def on my projector in both 720p and 1080i and I can not tell the difference for what it is worth.
Thanks for helping this video idiot out, as always I appreciate the help.
