So I'm thinking of getting a plasma... been looking online and I am interested in either the Panasonic 77u, 700u, Px80, or Samsung 5 series.

I have a great deal on the 77u, but I'm really looking for my picture to POP. I realize the 77u has a better anti-glare coating, at the expense of PQ. I've never owned a plasma, I have a v3000 LCD.

How little ambient light do I need to get optimum PQ and Pop ? Thats really what I'm after.

The 77U would not be the answer. Most people can live with the reflection during the day of most plasmas. The 77U does not provide a vibrant, bright picture. You should consider the 50PZ80U. You will see a big difference! If that is a little over budget then consider the 50PX80U.
