I'm plugged into "LFE IN" on the Sub and connected to the "Subwoofer" port on the Receiver.. When I remove the cable and touch it to the L or R plug-ins on the Sub it gets loud bass. However, when I plug it back into LFE (or fully into the L or R ports) nothing happens.....
I'm doing all of this while in the "level Calibration" mode on the receiver (Onkyo SR705) in-which you can hear each speaker to make sure it works. I have nothing coming from the subwoofer... I can increase and decrease the dB levels on all speakers except the subwoofer. When I change the settings on the Subwoofer nothing happens!
Any suggestions? I have no idea if it's the receiver or the subwoofer. All the other speakers sound great.......
Did you make sure your subwoofer is set to on in your receiver? Are all your speakers set to small or crossed over at 80hz in your receiver? Is your crossover on your subwoofer at max or are you using the crossover bypass?
Also make sure you are connecting to the Sub Out on the AVR. There should be a sub in that you may be confusing with the out.
Look at page 11 in the manual. You should connect to the subwoofer jack at bubble 25, not bubble 24.

PS3 Thread I posted about the problem..

Xbox 360 on the same problem

It will help explain exactly where I am now.. I'm totally lost it's either the receiver or the subwoofer. I need to figure it out so I can send one of them back to Amazon.com tomorrow...
I would prefer answers from this forum over the other but I received faster responses on the others..
I would much rather have the advice of professionals on this website.
Please help!
Did the speaker set up set the sub to Yes? You could have a bad cable.
Don't make people read some other threads in some other forums to see what you have or haven't done. If you don't want to retype, then copy and paste.

I'm guessing it's a bad cable as well. I unhooked the left tower speaker (leaving the wires still connected to the receiver) and hooked up the lose wires to the subwoofer. I then turned the Volume and Low pass as high as possible and could hear a decent rumble sound.
With that said it leads me to believe either a bad receiver port or cable.
I also have the Subwoofer set to "Yes"

However, it could still have a bad LFE port on the subwoofer itself.
Is there a way to test the subwoofer port on the receiver so we can rule out the Receiver or not?

I tested a component cable and it worked faintly. (The volume was at full blast) I also tested the old standard Red, Yellow, White cable and it worked faintly as well. However, it was very faint but you could tell it was rumbling..
I even went next door and tested the Cable I originally bought for the subwoofer that we've been having trouble with... Low and behold It worked for Video and Audio with my neighbors cable box and plasma.
I went into my settings (on the Onkyo) and turned off all base going through the speakers. Bass was to only travel through the subwoofer.. I then reconnected the original cable (as we now know that isn't the problem) and you could hear a very faint rumble with the volume turned all the way up on the subwoofer... It's not anywhere near loud enough for a 12" subwoofer.
Where are we now Gents??
Possibly a setting issue somewhere on the Onkyo? Why is the rumble so faint for a 12" subwoofer cranked all the way up
Take your sub next door and test on that set up. Turn down the gain first.
Are you still on hold with Onkyo?:)
