Looking into new subs for my 16'x16' Home theater. I do not have a big budget. Around $500. Looking at a Pair Of Outlaw LMF-2's. I really like the idea of a balanced look to the room. Right now I have a older Infinity 10' sub that has seen better days. The infinity will make barely to 35hz. I do not need them to rattle the walls. I just want clean/tight bass and go a little lower and looks like the outlaws fit the bill. Any other suggestions. Thanks

I think the Outlaws are a very good bargain right now. A pair of subs is a very good idea in your room. You have a difficult room to get a smooth frequency response because the room is square. If you happen to have an 8' ceiling, that makes it worse yet. Repeating dimensions and multiples of dimensions (like 8' x 2 = 16') make for irregular responses, but multiple subs can help to tame the problem.

forget the "balanced look". most things your eyes tell you looks good will sound like dog poo. one sub should be in a corner and the other should be moved around the room until you get smooth response across the listening position. as was mentioned, if you have 8' ceilings, you are dead. you will have have no bass at 50hz or 70hz.

Not wanting to follow you on several threads but I have to say that the worst location in a room for a sub is the corner. Corner loading is just creates a huge BOOM, BOOM scenario great for college kids but not the best way to create great low end performance.

First, I think the OP only needs ONE sub in his room since its so small. If the measurements show problems then move it around, treat the room then maybe by a 2nd sub to possible fix any existing problems.

Its correct to not worry about balance when talking about subs, One $500 sub in the room will be amazing!
