I was originally planning on purchasing the Panasonic TH-50PF10UK, but now I'm trying to persuade myself to wait for the 11UK. This is one of the most difficult things I've had to do in life, relatively speaking. I'm still watching my 27" CRT, and everytime I watch a movie, or sports, I just shake my head. I'm about to buy a new stand that will accommodate the 50" plasma, but it looks like I'll have the 27" CRT sitting there for a while.

Summer will officially begin in a couple of weeks - am I correct that the 11UK won't be available until Fall? :(

I've actually given some thought to buying the 850U, which I believe is about to be released, but something tells me to wait for the 11UK. Besides, I really dislike the shiny bezels, so that pretty much squashes that thought. Any new info regarding the 11UK's?

I also dislike the shiny bezels--it is one of the things that makes me reluctant to buy a Pioneer Kuro even if it is better than the Panasonic....

^^^Agree with both of you. I'm going to try to wait it out. Everyday I keep checking the 10UK, but I know I'll be happier overall if I just wait.

Now let me get ready to watch Game 1 of the NBA Finals tonight... on my 27" TV. :(

Well. I think the upcoming in 2009 very very flat hi lumen/watt ( 10 lumen tech) is the real way to go. The prototypes at CES were impressive ( Pioneer had one too minus the black levels of the Kuro line).

When the time arrives that commercial/professional 10 lumen tech displays are available, thats the time to get a new plasma.

I hear you, but I need something now. The Celtics & Lakers looked like ants tonight, and I was only sitting about 7/8 feet away (good eyesight, tested in January). A 27" set just doesn't cut it, not to mention the lack of HD quality. BTW, IIRC, the 10 lumen tech won't be here until at least 2010, unless I'm mixing that up with some other information I have.

The plant for panasonic that will make them supposedly opens in May 2009. In any case, I'd go with a 58 inch commerical 10 series at 720P now for about 2 large as the big score deal for now.

You can wait years to buy something you'd need? How about he gets a TV now and waits 3 years and gets one even better than the 2009 models. I think what you're talking about actually comes out in 2010 anyways.

Waiting for new TVs to come out is like waiting for computer parts.. there will always be something better, much better coming. No matter how good the Pioneers are in 2009 they will be that much better in 2010. Hell, by 2010 we might be done with LCDs and Plasmas period. Even people that shelled out for Kuros last year will see their TVs get stomped by their own companies new line. You just just can't futureproof with these kind of things.

As each day passes, I'm more & more tempted to buy the TH-50PF10UK, and then upgrade in a couple years. I just fear that come September/October, I'll wish I waited for the 11UK. This is nerve-wracking :D.

Has there been any info released on the 11UK's yet, such as release date & MSRP?

If Techniwizard would just get off his high horse and PM us the location of the spec sheets, that would be a step in the right direction. ;)

I bought my new stand, and it's put together, just waiting for the new set. Any news when the 50" 1080p 11UK will be released? I guess I'll go ahead and put my 27" CRT on the 60" wide stand, and enjoy myself.
