I have pieced together a system over the past year from various sources and am contemplating what I have and what my next steps are. First, a little background...I live in Manhattan in an apartment, so I don't need the craziest system. Another thing is that I may be moving (possibly out of the country next year, so everything I buy may be given away to my brother or sold off. So, here's what I have so far...
Pioneer VSX-90TXV (just bought for $285 shipped open box)
Some large old Bose floor standing speakers (free from my brother)
a set of Onkyo HTIB speakers (bought used for $35)
MTX SW2 sub (open box at BB for $95)
wires and optical cables from monoprice
Basically, I am using the Bose floor standing speaker as the two fronts. They sound good to me and fill the room with good sound. I am using the center and surrounds from the Onkyo system. It sounds OK to me now, but I don't know if I have really been in a room with amazing quality home theater stuff.
I understand that the timber must be very much off with these speakers. I don't know exactly what model of bose these speakers are, but they're pretty big.
Here is my question:
I was looking at the Dayton 1200 5 speaker system. Whatever the case, I don't want to be more than $200 out of pocket. Should I just scrap the large Bose speakers and buy this set? Should I just spend some money on the center and surrounds? If so, what can I find in this price range? I will include a picture of my room later so that you can understand the dimensions.
