I have a friend who is being offered a Dell 4201c or a 4202hd at around $1K by someone who sells the displays to the club where she works. I'm trying to do a little research to see what specs they have and how well they fair.

The seller claims that these displays are really Samsungs with the Dell name slapped on.

What I'm finding is:

- It seems Dell no longer produce these displays. In fact they don't seem
to carry any plasmas.

- I can't find the 4202hd anywhere. Seller claims this is a 1080p display.

- I tried calling Dell but their customer service lines are down.

If someone could point me at documentation for the 4202hd I would appreciate
it. Also if anyone has opinions on the performance of these sets that would be great.

It's not a 1080p display, it's the standard 720p 1024x768. It's possible that the panels were made by Sumsung, but so what? Samsung panels were nothing special at the time.

Neither are worth $1000, you can get a new modern plasma for less. They might be worth $300-$350.

The units are about 2-3 years old. They are 720p's. You'll probably find info on them if you look into the archive of avsforum. I'd stay away from 'em though. You can get a brand new Samsung 720p plasma for under 1k even at a B&M.
