I currently have an svs 'tube sub', and the port fires straight up, but I need to get a sub that will fit under my projection screen (so I can spread my l/r speakers out further). I was looking at the HSU line, and have heard really good things about them.

Can a sub with a rear firing port, like the HSU vtf-2 mk-3, be placed fairly close to a wall with out any problem? I know that speakers with rear port should be placed at least a foot or so from the wall. I want to keep it facing forward for a clean installation.

any thoughts?

I have seen examples of someone laying a cylinder sub on its side. I do not know whether this is feasible for you (under your screen) or even something you would even consider. Just an FYI.

Don't have the room for it like that. Good idea though. Someone's willing to buy my sub, so i'll only be out 100 bucks for a new HSU.

My understanding is it should be at least the width of the port from the wall.

Or you can just turn the Hsu 90 degrees. Driver facing forward (or is it down with this Hsu?) and port to the side.

The VTF-2 is downfiring.
