I am new to HT and have an odd question.

First, I do have a budget, which is why I bought the speakers I currently have. Also, I am not an audiophile by any means, this will be my first speaker system.

I currently have the Klipsch Quintet SL system. Seeing as it is a 5.1 system, I was wondering if I could make it a 7.1 system by moving the two sattelite speakers to the rear, and installing two in wall speakers as the sides. I am framing out the room that they will be in, and it is quite small (15x15), so space on the sides of the walls is premium walking space around the couch. I also have an odd mixture of low ceilings due to the HVAC (the room is in the basement).

Is this possible, or would I be better of with sticking with a simple 5.1 system?

With a room that size I would vote to stick to 5.1.

People often mix in-wall and/or in-ceiling and/or in-room speakers. Klipsch in-walls will probably provide you with a better timbre match but for surrounds that is less important.

size doesn't really have anything to do with it.

In a smaller room with some speaker placement limitations, it may be worth considering a 6.1 speaker configuration. Check with Klipsch to see whether they will sell you just a single rear satellite matching your existing Quintet SL System...

I could make a crude comment, especially about a guy with the word "wiggles" in his name, but I will refrain. ;)
