I'm in the process of building a new HT setup. I'm researching subs right now and came across the EMP Tek E10s on the audioholics site. They recommend it in their $5K audio-centric system, which is about what I'm looking to spend.

I'm just curious if anybody has any experience with this sub. It seems to me that if you are going for ~$500 sub, there are much more obvious choices like the Hsu VTF-2 MK 3 or the Outlaw LFM-1 Plus. On paper, both of these subs seem like much better performers but maybe there's something I'm missing.

The specs on that thing don't even read well. 30 pounds? Extension to 30Hz. 13 X 15 X 15 inches. This might make a good sub for a small den, and even then, this is not a sub for HT use.

You aren't missing a thing. There is a business relationship between Audioholics and EMP. That is what is written between the lines. Stick with the name brands like HSU, Outlaw, Ed.
