my wife and i just got the gv52lf from a friend of a friend, the problem is the stand and speakers were detached due to a wall mount and home theater system.. here is the specs we have

GV52
Yamaha A/V reciever HTR-5940
Dish 510 SD dvr
Sony DVD DVP-NS57P

I know the first problem is the Dish SD Dvr, going to be upgrading to the 722
I'm also going to be getting rid of the dvd player in exchange for ps3

I have the Dish DVR running to the A/V Reciever via S-cable, the DVD player running to the A/V Reciever via RCA Cables, and the GV-52 to the A/V Reciever via S-cable.

The S-Cable from tv to A/V is hooked up correctly because I get sound and pic when A/V is on DTV/Cable, when I switch to dvd on the A/V I get "no signal" should I just run a component cable from the dvd player to the tv and have the audio to the A/V??

My other concern is that when I upgrade to the ps3 via hdmi, how will I be able to get audio if the hdmi runs both and that will be going to the tv. any help would be great.

I hope this is visible, makes sense, and helps you.

The basic idea is to connect everything with at least component video if possible, it's MUCH better than S-video.

For the PS3, run HDMI to the TV and an optical audio cable to the receiver.
