Hi,
I just got a new PC with integrated Realtek HD audio, and my existing PC sound system consists of a really old Technics stereo power amp with 2 bookshelf speakers, and a powered Yamaha YST-SW60 active sub.
In my old system with an Audigy2 ZS, I plugged the power amp to the front L/R channel and the sub to the center/sub channel, set the speaker to "5.1" and used the Creative mixer to output bass to the sub on stereo sources.
However, the new integrated sound doesn't have this option, so I get no bass at all on stereo sources.
I thought about solutions to this problem that didn't involve using the Audigy2, and I looked behind the sub to see that there's actually speaker level input and output. My power amp also has 2 speaker level outputs(A & B) I'm wondering if I could use these in these 3 ways to achieve my goal?
Method 1:
Integrated PC audio L/R <-> Power amp
Power amp output A <-> Bookshelf Speakers
Power amp output B <-> Subwoofer speaker level input
Method 2:
Integrated PC audio L/R <-> Power amp
Power amp output A <-> Subwoofer speaker level input
Subwoofer speaker level output <-> Bookshelf Speakers
Method 3
Integrated PC audio L/R <-> Subwoofer line level input
Subwoofer speaker level output <-> Bookshelf speakers
Not sure if method 3 would work since that would require the sub to also amplify the line level signal for an extra 2 channels, but that would take the stereo amp out of the picture.
Anyone knows which of these work, and would be the best solution?
Thanks.
