Hey all -

Almost two years ago when moving & putting together something of a home theater, I settled on Samsung's DVD-R145 because it was the ONLY one I could find that met all of my "gotta have it" requirements:
- 720p Upconversion (my plasma doesn't do 1080)
- Records dual/double-layer (preferably both +R and -R but only one would be ok)
- Chapter & menu creator

I've been pleased with the operation in general & the upconverted picture, but over time it's gotten more and more finicky about what discs it feels like even reading, and I've wrestled with its fickleness for dual/double in -R or +R, and those two things (mostly the first) have gotten bad enough to where I'm looking to replace it.

Samsung has replaced the 145 with the 155, 157, and 160, which all seem to meet those three requirements, but I'm loath to so quickly go back to Samsung when the 145 has been so frustrating. Any recommendations from the well-informed folks here? My three requirements are unchanged, and here are things that I'm not interested in and why:
- tuner (I've got Dish Network for that)
- HDD (I've got a Dish DVR for that)
- 1080p upconversion (though that seems ubiquitous now)

Things I never really considered but are pretty cool when I see them:
- SD card slot
- front DV input

Thanks!
Jason

EDIT: Well, that was easier than it was two years ago. 5 minutes of looking brought me to the Panasonic DMR-EA18K, the Philips DVDR3506/37 (though the dual/double-layer recording support is unclear), and the Toshiba D-R410 that seem to fit the bill as well. Any opinions on those models and/or others folks would add to the list?
