I a have CRT rear projector and when watching HD programming in 16x9 format, the top, bottom, left, and right edges of the picture are not visible. It is almost as if the TV is in a slight zoom mode. The picture is not distorted or anything the edges look to have about an inch or two missing.

Is this a factory adjustment? I hear the term "overscanning" used but I am unsure as to exactly what that means.

I would like to see as much of the picture as possible.

BTW, I have a Mitsubishi.
