Has anyone been able to play this HD-DVD on their 5000? This is a combo disc. It spins around for eternity. Plays without a hitch on my Toshiba HD-A30.

No problem here. Clean your disc.

We had a copy from Netflix that played fine, but I don't remember it being a combo. Were there 2 versions of this title: combo and non-?

US release was a combo: http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/1162/mrbeansholiday.html
UK release was not: http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/449/mrbeansholiday_uk.html

Netflix most likely has access to special pressings and may make some of their own authorized pressings but don't quote me on that.

I just tested my copy of Bean's Holiday (Combo) and it played fine. Gotta tell ya, I need to test more blu disks yet, but I'm really liking this machine so far.

Got a copy of Sunshine on the way. Figure if it'll have problems with anything, that'll be the disk.

As well as cleaning it, are you running firmware 1.3?

We had a copy from Netflix that played fine, but I don't remember it being a combo.
As it sounds like you rented an American disc it's very likely it would've been a Combo.

AFAIK only Smokin' Aces was ever released outside of America also on a Combo. All other USA Combos were Single Sided everywhere else.
