Hi all,

I am a setting up my first home theater, and don't think I am doing it right (????). Could you please see the attached picture and comment on the placement of the speakers? Please give suggestions if this is obviously wrong. Please note that I cannot move the TV to the middle of the front b/c we want to use the fireplace.

Thanks,
Dustin

The L/R speakers should be placed symmetrically on either side of your display. Your right speaker should be moved to sit just to the right of your display, not on the other side of the fireplace.

The sub should probably go right in the corner of the room behind the TV.

Thanks Cavu,

I thought about doing that (haven't yet) but thought that would create too narrow of a sound cone.

Let me ask another question: Will I notice a big improvement if I move the TV in front of the fireplace, thereby placing it in the middle of the front wall, and then place the FL right next to the TV?

Thanks

yes. You could also alter the room layout by putting the tv against the wall in front of the window. Then you could put the front L&R speakers on either side of the tv. One couch would have direct view of the tv and you would have a sweetspot somewhere on it.
