I was hoping for some advice.

I currently have some what I think are grounding issues, a buzz in all speaers. The buzz varies by time of day and does not change with volume. I use balanced cables between my am[ and [reamp using unbalanced makes the problem much worse. Chassis grounding I think is poor because I have to ground cetrain "2 Pin" components to chassis, scratching a ground wire on their chassis still produces audible noise through the speakers. Power where I am is 240V but generally poor quality. All equioment is plugged in at one off three wall points all next to each other and on the same dedicated 30A spur.

I'm considering a commericial balanced power transformer, a 5KVA one. Will this likely help? Is it enough for a 10A@240V poweramp, 5A @ 240V Subwoofer and projector that draws 500W as well as a selection of low power source components?

I can't help but think it is nothing more than a ground loop. The internet is full of articles on resolving ground loops. I would go through that before buying any equipment.

Everything is plugged into the sequential sockets on the same spur. I dont know what else I can do to fix a ground loop (Even if it is a ground loop I assume balanced power would stop it?).

Did you read the HUM FAQ in this section?

Yes I read it and some of the links,

I identified 5 other possible ground points:

1) Coax digital baluhn to zone 2 (Coax outputs should be isolated so not likely)

2) Network cable from PC to switch in other part of house

3) Network cable from HDDVD player to switch in other part of house

4) Aerial (House booster / distribution box is on another spur)

5) Satellite Dish (Multiheaded LNB does connect to to sat boxes else where in house).

Trouble is unplugging all 5 does not help.

OK made some progress:

The Lumagen Video Processor and LG HD player are both involved. The Lumagen adds alot to the buzz unless the chassis is grounded, this greatly reduces it but there is still somewhat higher buzz on all inputs when the Lumagen is on. The LG does not add as much buzz as the Lumagen but does make a definite increase when its on. The LG is connected to the PRepro by optical and to the Lumagen by HDMI, I suppose this means it has to be grounding through the HDMI to the Lumagen and on from there?

Is it a ground loop I'm facing or something else?
