I recently bought a PS3 and think I might as well get a sound system. I have zero experience with audio systems. I mostly stick with headphones on my gaming PC.

I plan on using it for Cable TV, Gaming (PS3, 360, and maybe hook up my PC), and watching anime. I don't really buy DvDs or HD movies nor do I rent them. I usually just watch stuff once and thats it. So you think this might be overkill?

What I picked or would like to get: Total about $550, this is just an estimate. I haven't looked around anywhere else yet.

Onkyo TX-SR605S 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000OBLARM******ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance)
Onkyo SKS-HT540 7.1 Surround Sound Speaker System (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000GU78Z4******ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=ALAQLAKJ574UN&v=glance)

Do you guys think this would be a pretty decent budget build? My only HDMI products are a 360 and PS3. So the two HDMI inputs are O.K. for me.

If you have any advice or other recommendations of different products, please let me know. I want to keep this under $600. I don't work and I'm in college so going all out isn't an option.

You should check out the Real HT info podcast that Marshall has. New episode today. :)

What is Real HT Info?

Real HT Info is a podcast dedicated to cutting through the nonsense and making better sound and video available to everyone interested in Home Theater. We're here for those on a limited budget, those with less than ideal spaces (small apartments, college dorms, non-dedicated rooms), and those that are tired of being sold an inferior product because they were tricked by marketing hype.. We'll show you how to get the best bang for your buck without getting trapped in a "cheaper is better" mind set, and all the little tricks to help you squeeze extra performance out of your current system for next to nothing. And, in case you're wondering what to watch and listen to, well review great content for your system.
