We just bought a 3 level townhouse and I want to setup the entertainment room on the 1st level. The room is 11 x 17. All my stuff are pretty old so I want to build a new one from scratch. It will be 50% gaming & 50% movies. My boyfriend may listen to the ipod once in awhile. Here's what I have in mind:

Display: Panasonic TH-50PZ800U or 850U
Receiver: Denon 3808CI
Speakers: B&W 683 front, HTM61 center, 686 rear, ASW610
DVR or Tivo Series 3
PS3, xbox 360, Wii
Future Blu-Ray Player: something comaprable to Denon DVD-2500BTCI when version 2.0 players are out.
Power Center: Monster HTS 3600 MKII

I would like to hear some comments on this setup. I would like some recommendations on speaker wires.

I understand that the Denon 3808 is using a very old video processor but the 5308 is out of my budget. I would prefer the ONKYO 875 if I can get a brand new one that is made in Japan. I heard that only the initial batch was made in Japan and they are now being made in Malaysia. I also had bad experience with made in Malaysia Onkyo receiver. Sending an receiver to the service center is such a pain.

I am also looking at the Panamax 5300 but I know my boyfriend will have issue with the appearance of it. With the $150 price premium, is it better than the Monster 3600?

The PS3 is a great player. I wouldn't buy another one at this point. The 875 does have a good VP. My guess is that the Panamax 5300 isn't that much better than the Monster. I have the Panamax and it has been OK, but not perfect. I had some pinballs on the same circuit and it didn't protect against voltage drops. You would think that it would have some caps to smooth out voltage drops, but if it does, they don' work that well.

bert,

You need to research each piece of equipment in the correct area of the forum to get specific information/advice.

I will say, however, that you're probably better off getting a good UPS instead of a power center.
