I searched through the threads on this model, but can not find a duplicate problem.
I have a HLN5065W. I've had it since 4/6/03. The color wheel was replaced early on under warranty. The lamp was replaced last summer.
Now when I turn it on, I get the power-on tone, then the center "LAMP" light will flash - like it normally does.
But instead of the picture coming on, I hear what sounds like a muffled motherboard alarm for about 5-8 seconds. Then nothing. then the alarm again - repeats endlessly. The center LAMP light keeps flashing. I've checked the lamp, and it appears to be fine. No broken filament or sign of it being burnt out.
When the lamp went out previously, the TV just flashed the lights at me - no alarm. This situation is different than the failing lamp was.
I have to unplug the TV to get it to shut off. Repair guys are supposed come out early next week. I was hoping to find out if this has happened to others. If so, what the problem was an how much was the repair.
