Hello,

I bought a high end dell laptop (XPS) and it comes with component out adapters. I tried pugging into my Misubishi WT-46809 and the picture looks terrible. I tried changing the laptops resolution to everything possible and it doesnt seem to improve at all. The picture is generally out of square and distorted and the colors are not right either.

A friend of mine told me that older rear projection televisions didnt work with a laptop for HD. I dont know that I trust such a broad statement.

The laptop has the following:
Nvidia GeForce 7900 Go/512MB DDR2 Video Memory
DVI and component video

I was told by someone else that I might be in luck using the program PowerStrip, but I wanted to check with the experts here. I want to watch some hd divx and the codecs are easy with the laptop.

Thanks for the insight!

Jeff

You'll probably need Powerstrip to set custom timings. The tv accepts 1080i/540P on the HD component input. You might want to search the Home Theater Computers section for further info.

Since your laptop has DVI out you could get an HD Fury and either a Box 1020 or the RTC 2200 combo to view HDCP material via RGBH/V which I believe your set will also accept (at least it does on my 805 series Mits).

Good luck

So I guess you are saying I am out of luck using the component video adapter that came with the laptop?
