Not sure if this is the correct forum to post this, but thought it was worth a try. I have Sunfire pre/pro (no hdmi) and amps that I don't wish to replace, but would like to have DTS-Master audio. I see two options:

1) Buy a new Blu-ray player with internal decoding when they're available later this summer and run the analog out into my pre/pro

or

2) Purchase a receiver like the Yamaha rxv1800 to decode the audio and then run the pre-outs to my Sunfire pre/pro.

Option 2 would allow me to ditch the analog audio switcher I've been using for my current Blu-ray and HD-DVD players.

Which of these options do you think would yield the best sound, or would there be no difference?

Thanks!

Does your Blu-ray player currently bitstream DTS-MA? It would have to in order to use option 2.

I have read that there is no audible difference between the player or the receiver decoding DTS-MA so the as long as your current BD player bitstreams DTS-MA, then the choice is yours what would you prefer to buy, a new BD player or a new receiver.
