Hello,

I don't know if this is the right area to post this question, but here we go.

I'm not a major audio nut. My system is by no means, at all, spectacular. It gets the job done and it sounds pretty good(to my ears).

Heres the problem I had. The volume would decrease at a high level after a short period of time. I'd say after running for a minute or two. What would cause this? Would it be just to much draw on the amp and it would go into a kind of protect mode? The equipment i was using was an older jvc Receiver with 5.1. I believe it was 100 rms x 5. The speakers i was running on it were cerwin vega avs-5.1 series. specs for the speakers are here.

Now i have traded that amp for a Yamaha HTR-5730E and the problem has never shown up again.I was just curious as to what might cause the volume to fade from loud to quite with out touching the volume knob. I searched around the forums before making this thread, but I couldn't really find an answer.

Thank you for all the help and answers :D

Do you have some kind of volume compression setting on your receiver turned on like "Night Mode"?

nope. it wasn't a very good receiver. i don't think the jvc had anything like that

The JVC may not have been able to really handle high volumes... It may have some sort of protection that kicks in when it over heats or reaches a certain temperature setting...
