angel2167882 06-22-10, 11:28 PM There is new s/w for the BH200, download from your network update function on the BH200 if it's not there I will post a link for you to download it. New version is BH02100401A.Well, every time I check it says to download this new version but after the upgrade, I'm still running the LV221BH_100330A and ask to upgrade again and again?
Anyway, I had dropout issues with lastest firmware, I went back to April 08... still not sure if it runs fine tought?!?
tbadiuk 06-23-10, 04:47 AM You guys with drop out issues, try running with short cable (3-6 ft) and see if that helps. I was running a 32ft cable and started having dropouts, turned out the high humidty pushed the cable to the edge and I started getting drop outs. Moving to a 3 foot cable and I get zero drop outs now.

Not a terrible idea but I will say that I have drop outs and my HDMI cable is only 6 ft. (BH200 to A/V receiver is probably about 4 ft.).

I changed to Blue Jeans HDMI Series F2 cables, 6 feet from player to AV reciever and 6 feet from AV reciever to dispaly, and I have no more audio drop outs.
On a side note, I finally sold my Toshiba HD DVD palyer and my last 32 HD DVDs and I have enough of money to buy the Oppo 83. So I probably will be putting the LG up for sale since I won't need it anymore.
I also just picked up a pioneer 320 for $129 and I have this in place of the LG. I am going to test it out over the weekend.
This will go on my tv in the bedroom when the Oppo gets here.
badwilly 07-06-10, 10:18 AM I went to the LG site and tried to print the Update guide to supplement the original manual. No matter what I did, I couldn't even download the file. Neither my desktop or notebook could retrieve the Update Guide. Are there any alternate sites. With the newest firmware, there are items not in the supplied guide which I suspect are in the Update Guide. How else can I get this guide so I can print it?
cheers

Actually, I can't even download the current owners manual using either IE or Firefox.

Maybe you have anti-script or anti-virus software that's preventing it? Worked fine for me in Firefox. Here's the update guide attached as an attachment, as it's only 113kb. The Owner's Manual is 1.38 MB and too large to attach.

Yes, the latest firmwares have sufficiently different menus and features that the original manual is quite a bit out of date. Unfortunately the Update Guide is a guide to updating the firmware. It isn't an update to the manual.
Codename_Falcon 07-07-10, 11:53 AM You may download the user guide, service manual and firmware for April 2008, June 2009 or March 2010 which include the update guide from my skydrive.

Oops, missed that. :o
No, the update guide is for how to apply the firmware update, it's not an update to the owners' manual.

Been running a 3ft HDMI cable since I installed the BH200 and I've always had drop-outs with my Pio receiver. Nice try, though. :(

Thanks so much. I was able to download from your site. Appreciate it greatly. Don't know why I couldn't do it from the LG site.
badwilly 07-10-10, 02:12 PM Just wanted to say so long to all. This forum has been very helpful all these months. Yesterday I decided no more. I bought the Sony BDP-CX960 and put the toshiba back in service. Even though most of the dropouts had been seriously reduced I decided it was time to move on. Thanks all for all your help in the past. The BH-200 has been stored away as a backup.
Digital Man5 07-15-10, 01:47 PM Seeing how much they go for on ebay, I'd just sell if you were just going to throw it in the closet. You could get a decent HD DVD player and have a good chunk of change left over...

I'll check that out. As I now have two BD players and the Tos HD-XA2 there is no reason to keep the LG.

For the time being I'm going to hold on to it. It has been a good player other than a few random dropouts.

I've debated selling mine many times and upgrading to a newer WIFI player but I can't bring myself to part with it.

The prices of new players has been dropping so dramatically that you don't even need to dump the BH200. You could always keep it as a back up.
U2Cowboy 07-31-10, 07:22 PM You're right. This is what I've determined. Especially since I'm not interested in the higher priced 3D models.

nick_danger 08-06-10, 06:59 AM Anywhere from zero-to-twice per movie, my BH200 will drop the video signal where the screen goes black for 2-3 seconds, but I never lose audio. I have tried other Blu-Ray players, and they don't have the same problem, so I assume the problem stems from the BH200.

SSM, any sign of a new firmware coming?

Not that I am aware of. I know they are busy with the 300 series and 500 series updating those for some new release issues. The 200 is not having the same problems with new releases as the 300's and 500's.
If people are having some problems with new releases they need to be reported to LG to get the ball rolling and please tell them your firware version you are using so they will not send you the "new" update which is just the most recent version which is several months old now.
I recently reported massive audio drop outs when bitstreaming with the BH200 on the disc How to Train Your Dragon (I do not have the problem with the player decodes the lossless and sends it in PCM format). However, I am not certain that it is the player's fault. I should know tonight or this weekend, assuming my Onkyo BD-SP807 arrives today. I actually think it is a receiver problem in my case, but we shall soon see.
8traxrule 11-13-10, 08:36 PM Is the 4x3 problem EVER going to be fixed? That's the only thing that's keeping me from using mine as my main player. Wish someone could at least find a hidden control to make it display 4x3 properly. Using HDMI on my system, I can't even manually switch the display to 4x3.

I wouldn't expect any updates unless a major title doesn't play and then it will probably only be a fix to get that to play. You have to remember that this came out in 2007 and many other LG players have come out since then that need to be supported, too (and probably have a larger install base, meaning higher priority).
I confirmed that it is the Lg BH200 causing the audio drop-out problem in bitstream on How to Train Your Dragon (at least in my setup). When testing with a different player in bitstream, I had no audio drop outs in the trouble scene.
halfsane 11-17-10, 09:06 AM Iron Man 2 had a good amount of audio drops for me. I usually have been lucky and not had that problem.
I don't have my BH 200 hooked up right now so I am wondering if anybody has any trouble with these Fox titles loading and playing.
The Last of the Mohicans
Two disc version of Avatar
The Sound of Music
Predators
These titles are not working on my Pioneer BDP 320 and my Oppo BDP 83.
I shelved the BH 200 because of how long it took to get firmware updates and now I have the same problem with the Oppo and the Pioneer.

If you are having problems with your Oppo, then I would say it definitely is a weird Bluray copy protection update B.S. Oppo is one company which really stands behind its products and gets needed firmware updates out quickly.. I would call their customer support and notify them of your problems. By the way, do you use BD-Live? If so, try those titles again with that feature turned off on your players and see if that fixes it.
I contacted LG customer support to report the bitstream audio drop out problem on How to Train Your Dragon. I specifically explained exactly what was going on and that it was a problem with the player in Bitstream mode. Here is the verbatim response:
"Thank you for emailing LG Electronics, I will be happy to assist you. I am sorry for any inconvience this has caused you.
Please go into the BH200 Audio menu and change the audio to Primary Pass Thru this should fix your audio drop out.
Should you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again wither via email, or by calling our customer service division at 800-243-0000 at your convenience.
Best Regards,

Um, ok. Primary Pass Thru is the problem genius. Seriously, how do these people feed and bathe themselves?

First tier support is pretty much useless, call LG and ask for a supervisor to start with and for that person to transfer you past first tier support.

Yes I do use BD Live and the titles do load and play if BD Live is turned off.
As for the support from Oppo the last production firmware release was in May and the Beta firmware, which doesn't help with this problem, was released in August.
I finally saved enough money to buy the Oppo in July and my luck is Oppo decided to discontinue the 83 and move on to the 93. Just like LG did to us BH 200 owners when the BD 300 series came out, Oppo seems to be moving the 83 to the back burner.
It seems to be a reoccuring nightmare with these players and firmware updates.

I would be very surprised if Oppo lets you down with the 83. My understanding with the BH200 was that Broadcom was slowing up the firmware update process, Oppo doesn't have to deal with that. I'm planning on purchasing an Oppo 93SE (or equivalent) when it is released, since I have a lot of SACDs and DVD-As. Everything I've read is they are a great company so I would think they will come through for you.
vinnie97 11-20-10, 06:22 PM Well, not entirely true...MediaTek (another chipmaker) was causing delays for fixes on the Oppo. ;-)

Both sound of music and avatar play fine on the LG 200. At least on mine.

These titles are not working on my Pioneer BDP 320 and my Oppo BDP 83.
I shelved the BH 200 because of how long it took to get firmware updates and now I have the same problem with the Oppo and the Pioneer.
I have watched all the above, with the exception of The Sound Of Music, on my BH-200 without issue... bitstreamed to an Onkyo 805.
microbob 12-04-10, 10:55 PM Avatar loads fine on my BH 200. Never had problems with the latest firmware with Fox Blu-Ray titles. I bitstresam to an Onkyo 608.
The Sound of Music plays OK in my LG 200,
I finally got a chance to test the Fox BD Live titles on the BH 200 and ran into some issues.
First problem I had is getting the internet connection to work. I had to power cycle my router in order for it to automatically configure a connection.
So I tested the connection by seeing if there was an update available and I got a long strange message that I never seen before. I solved this issue by turning off my computer as it appears that the BH 200 was asking my computer for the update.
I am running windows 7 on my computer.
I first tested the BD Live on the BH 200 by loading Crank 2 which is a bear to load. Every thing went well, BD Live worked and I could play the movie with out any incident.
The first Fox title I tried was the original release of Avatar. I ran into three problems:
1. The movie didn't load on the first try as it froze up the player and I had to shut off the player and restart it and load the movie again to get it to load.
This only happened once though.
2. BD Live worked fine but when I returned to the top menu to play the movie the player shut off.
3. The resume function didn't work either as it froze up the player and I had to shut it off and restart the player.
The next title was Predators and I had the same problem with BD Live as I did with Avatar, when you try to return from the BD Live menu back to the top menu to play the movie, the player would shut off.
The Last title I tried was Sound of Music and everything worked with out a hitch.
I remembered that I had the same problem a year ago with Godzilla and BD Live. If you try BD Live before you watch the movie the player would freeze up and shutdown when returning to the top menu to watch the movie. But if you watch the movie first and then try BD Live everything worked perfectly.
The BH 200 worked the best with the Fox BD Live titles, as long as I watched the movie first and tried BD Live after the movie.
My Pioneer 320 works the second best because I don't have to go into the main menu and turn things off to watch the movie. Using BD Live will freeze up the player.
My OPPO 83 is last because you have to go into the main menu and empty the persistant storage and turn BD Live off. Then turn off the player and restart it in order to get the Fox titles to play. Using BD Live also freezes up the player.
Thanks so much. I was able to download from your site. Appreciate it greatly. Don't know why I couldn't do it from the LG site.
Can you UL it somewhere? I checked his "dump" few weeks ago but my laptop battery ran out and now he's turned off public sharing...

There's no need. The latest firmware (March 2010) is in the Mini-FAQ, where it's always been :) -

If you need the April 2008 firmware (no BD live support), please PM me and I can upload it somewhere.

bradavon 11-26-11, 01:58 AM No worries T2k.
I assume "BH02100330A (2010-03-30)" is still the latest firmware version? Thanks.
