View Full Version : Height of speaker stand for Spherex speakers?
MPDamon 06-16-08, 10:54 AM I just set up a sound proof gaming/movie room and am looking to put my speakers on stands. I was looking at the Omnimount Cosmic seen here (http://www.buy.com/prod/omnimount-cosmic-16-speaker-stand-black-gray/q/loc/111/90128388.html)
They have 16', 24' and 31 heights. The center will have to be on a 16' stand otherwise it would go past the bottom of the TV. My question is should I just stick with the 16's for the rest or go higher for the Front and back Left and Right speakers?
Thanks for the help.
MPDamon 06-16-08, 03:29 PM can anyone give me an idea on this? I was hoping to order these today
sivadselim 06-16-08, 05:40 PM Aren't those stand a bit of "overkill" for Spherex speakers? AFAIK the speakers are small and lightweight. A lesser stand should work fine (and look better).
As far as the height this is concerned, within reason, it is best to have all the speakers, at least across the front, at the same height. For MANY of us this is just not possible. 16" seems a bit low for your L/R, but that is your call. Because of their particular design, these speakers supposedly cast a large (and tall) soundstage, so that height may be fine. I would try and place the surrounds higher than 16", though.
My $0.02.

do you have an suggestions on a stand? when you say a lesser stand what do you mean?
sivadselim 06-16-08, 05:46 PM do you have an suggestions on a stand? when you say a lesser stand what do you mean? You don't need a stand that "chunky" for those speakers. By lesser I do not necessarily mean cheaper, quality-wise, although you CAN probably find something less expensive.
Are THESE (http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=309-400) the speakers? You're going to spend more on the stands than the speakers! Please don't do that. :(
If those are the speakers, they appear to have a mounting hole on the rear. You can buy some sleeker stands that will specifically fit that hole.

Those are them. I just didn't really find anything else that I thought would work. I may be looking in the wrong places though.

Those speakers are begging for some stands like the majority of the ones on THIS page. The height is adjustable, too. Now, that place is expensive, but you should be able to find similar stands, less expensively, elsewhere.
