I can get Polk speakers/subs discounted 57%.

So, first of all, are Polk products considered nice in this community?

If so, here's a little about what I am building a system for:

Surround sound is not a huge deal for now. I am mainly concerned with a very nice music-listening setup. I will be moving into an apartment next year, so a sub will more than likely be out of the picture.

Thus, I am thinking 2 nice floorstanders that still have quite a bit of slam/extension ability.

Later, when I am in a house, I plan on getting more equipment for surround sound, but for now, it is not practical.

So, for now, while I can get this discount, I am interested in a center channel and 2 fronts. I have the Insignia NS-B2111's which I can use for my rears.

I have the Pioneer VSX-516-K/S receiver.

So, what should I get? Is Polk audio worth it discounted 57%?

Note: If 57% off is an amazing deal for this equipment, I will strongly consider building the entire system now, including rears, sub, center, and fronts. So, if this is the case, advice for an entire system would be appreciated!

Depends on which model you are looking at. R series would be consider entry level while the LSi would be consider the "higher end"-depending on one's defination of what higher end means. LOL.

Here is a link to polk. The top of the page is their highest model.

With the deals you can get on Polk online I think they offer a pretty good bang for the buck. Not sure if your 57% off trumps even those prices, but if so then I think you will be in good shape. Go with at least the Monitor line or, better yet, the RTi's if you can swing them.

For example, I can get the Rti A7s for $247.23/each. I can't find anything cheaper than $500 online (unless you know something that I don't).

If you live near Frys, their Rti8 is $200/each.

I work at Circuit....and I helped my buddy by a polk setup... He bought the Rti A7's for his front aswell as the best center speaker on the accomadations website. He has Rti A5s for his rears, and Fxi's for his surrounds in a 7.1 setup. Its a badass setup, you can get a great setup for not a lot of money. A really badass 5.1 setup by polk with RtiA7's in front and RtiA3s in back with a nice center channel was less than 1k. I would stay away from their subs, because they suck. The RtiA7's are really good, they are a lot punchier and have better base response than the Kef's that I own. They do lack the bright highs that my speakers create. I definitely considered getting the Polk Rti setup for a long time. They make good stuff.....most people on this site would consider them entry level audiophile equipment. The deals are insane on that accommodation website. I bought a set of RM20's when I first started working at Circuit for $325.

(Sorry if some of the Speakers SKU's are off, its been a while since I looked up the accommodations page and helped my buddy)

A bit off topic but what is the accomodations website? Is that a CC clearance site?
