Hi,
I am trying to build a new HT . It is a 2.1 system. I have a Sony 40 LCD, PS3,onkyo SR605 , a subwoofer and 2 definitve tech speakers. I have a few questions about the wires . I would have the speakers at about 4 ft from the receiver.
1. should i buy Enhanced Loud Oxygen-Free Copper Speaker Wire Cable for receiver to speaker . what would be the gauge i should buy ?
2. would the receiver to speaker wire also work for a receiver to subwoofer ?
This is my first HT. so please excuse me for the dumb questions. I appreciate your reply.

No, you should not buy that, or anything with a name that sounds anything like that. You will pay too much.

For 4 feet? 16 AWG should be fine. Even smaller than that wouldn't hurt you.

I'm guessing you have a powered subwoofer (most of them are these days), in which case you do not want speaker wire at all, but a patch cord (aka interconnect).

Thank you for your reply.
I am unable to post the links for it now
I looked at monoprice ->cables --> Speaker Wire
are they the the correct wire for reciever to speaker ?

I just checked there and all I see are 50ft rolls for "in wall installation".

Either of these will work fine:

Or truck on over to Lowes, Home Depot, or WalMart and pick up some wire today. :)

The wire for in-wall looks a lot better than the other since it has that white jacket around it. More of a WAF there. ;P

That's true, but if you are really looking to improve the looks, run the wire IN the wall. I never leave wires exposed, looks sloppy.

Is there a way to do this in a rented apartment without leaving damage? Or would I even want to bother if I'm going to move in a year anyway? What are my alternatives to having messy wire on the floor? I dont really see any.. :-/

looks expensive to setup to length (although they don't list prices on their site as far as I can tell). I can see how this makes fronts look cleaner, but what about surrounds? I guess you would have to run it all the way around the room? That would certainly be too expensive for an apartment if I plan to move away in a year, assuming that these things are only good for 1 application. I feel like I might be stuck with messy. Maybe I can borrow a staple gun somewhere :P
