Hello everyone. I've been reading these forums forever, but I just started posting not too long ago after I moved into my new house. Since I finally had an opportunity to design a semi-dedicated HT I thought I'd give it a shot. Many thanks to everyone for posting pictures and ideas in all the threads on this board. The inspiration was worth it.

Since I just bought the house I didn't have a whole lot of cash to spend, so I tried to make do with what I had in the way of equipment and add some new stuff in where I could.

The room clearly isn't done, so I'd love to hear your comments, thought, and suggestions. It desperately needs some decoration and acoustic tiles... but one step at a time. I think the next 2 things on my list are the custom MA rackplates to finish off the rack and a BluRay player. Shame on me, I know. :p

Oh yeah... you can poke fun at my speaker selection, but trust me... its nothing I probably haven't already heard :D

Equipment:

Rotel RB-985 Amp
Rotel RSP-985 Processer
Rotel RDA-985 DTS Decoder
Rotel RDA-980 AC3 Decoder
SVS PB-12 Plus/2 Sub
Bose 901 Fronts
B&W Center (I forget which model)
Klipsch Surrounds (I forget these too)
Sammy FP-T5884 Plasma

Fellow AVSers really don't poke fun we are here to help out. First thing I notice is the location of the front lf and rt. I'd lower them and make them level to the center. Other than that I think you have a great start.

and if you can't, at least see if you can aim them down toward the seating area.

Any particular reason why you didn't place the display in the niche where the subwoofer is? You could have placed the seating against the back wall (or close to it) and it would have made the room seem bigger and created a much better flow.

You would have needed to hang one speaker, but it would have also allowed you for better placement of speakers if you ever decided to go with 7.1

PS. You might want to put something over those 2 little windows and maybe paint the door (on that side) black, so it's not so blinding.

I agree with stew about the placement of everything making the room flow better but it's still nice.Definitely cover those windows up.You got a good spot there.

Keep the set up the way it is. It's totally upgradable to a High Definition front projector. That wall is crying out: "hang a 110" screen on me!!!"

Thanks everyone. For some reason when you walk in the room, it just feels like it should be set up that direction. I had never even thought about rotating it 90*. But the wires are run, so I guess it stays. Plus like Arango1 said... its an easy upgrade to a projector. :D

The windows are definitely getting covered. I just need to figure out what to use....

Looks nice.

If you can move the L&R fronts down as low as you can to get in-line with the center. Possibly even move the center to above the plasma so all three could be in-line since the rack is in the way.

Enjoy your new space.

What color are your HT seats and where did you get them?

Everything looks great!

Thanks! I bought the seats from a local place called Maxine Furniture here in NoVA. Kind of a ghetto operation, but they were the only reasonably priced theater seats I could find. Quality is average but they're comfy. The leather is some sort of brown. I'll see if I can dig up the paperwork with the manufacturer and stuff.

Looks very nice. given the space. I have the same amount of space, just differently arranged. Very funny that i stumbled upon your pics, I have chosen the same color (a beige and red accent wall) for my room.
