What ashamed! The Title says it all. Where is PCM??? Natural Treasure 1 with great PCM track, Treasure 2 with true HD and it sucks and I bought it hoping it is good. Men in Black and Natural Born Killer are also out with True-HD. Thanks to Dolby, it saves me money because I haven't bought many Bluray discs anymore. With DVD, we had to fight Dolby and hoped every new release DVD included DTS and now with Bluray, every new release I had to hold my breath and hoping it either has DTS or PCM. When can any audiophile really enjoy great sound since DTS laserdisc??? Anyone has an answer? Studio movies don't care about include both PCM or DTS with Dolby. Is there any niche market for an audiophile like myself or others???

TrueHD is lossless, PCM is lossless, DTS-HD MA is lossless.. Whats the issue?

I'll be the first one to say DTS is better than Dolby(my opinion, no codec war needed).

But this "Treasure 2 with true HD and it sucks" is completely wrong.
NBK sounds awesome with its TrueHD track.

I don't know the point of this thread. If you want proof that TrueHD can sound as good as anything else, then pick up a copy of Cloverfield. Edit - in this case it's way better than everything else.

U571 comes out on 8/26 with an MA track. That should do something for you. I'll get it just for that reason.

I don't buy it. My ears detected the difference. That's the issue. Save that for someone else. The point of this thread is studio should include both sound tracks or make 2 seperate disc and I will buy the PCM or DTS disc and the Dolby True HD disc can save for the ones who claimed they sound all the same. This will be fair for everyone and no one will bitch.

Hi.

You are delusional. There is no difference.

Bye.

Of course there is an audible difference between TrueHD and LPCM. The other day I was doing my equipment budget in Excel, then I zipped the file, and later whan I unzipped it again, there was some money gone from it!

By the way, did you know that Office 2007 file format is nothing but zip format? Don't believe me? Take a Word or an Excel file (the one with your budget), change the extension to .zip and tell me what you see. So if you're an audiophile who believes that TrueHD and LPCM (and DTS HD MA for that matter) are not bit for bit identical (from the identical source, of course), you'd better stay away from Office 2007, or strange things may happen to your files.

Then again, if you really go deep into this, there are plausible claims that there indeed is an audible difference between the two, which comes from possible jitter (yes, the J word) over HDMI, in which case the compressed formats are immune to it, while LPCM is not.

Do the search on advanced digital audio. It's all there. Then you can challenge your audiophile friends' preconceptions.

TrueHD can sound different because of DN. But just adjust your volume knob and it will sound the same as PCM.

There are plenty of other threads discussing this.
