I'm seeing HDMI port switching times on a new 52" HDTV in the 4 to 7 second range when switching between HDMI source boxes. Blu-ray players seem to be at the high end of the range while the PS3 is the low end. Are others seeing similar switching times on their HDTVs?
Does anyone besides me think this is annoying? Are AVRs any faster?

I do not know what the average is, but 4 to 7 seconds would not be too long for me. Remember you have a HDCP handshake going on here, so it is dependent on the source, switch and output and how well they work together. If the source spits out protocols that the display does not recognize or some of those protocols get lost in the switch it may take a couple of seconds to resolve. Not sure if this is a an ideal comparison, but much the way TCP IP works.
Consider yourself luck in some respects. Many people can not get their handshake to work at all when going through a switch.
