individually they are 22.99, but if you purchase both, you get 10 bucks off the purchase.
Im sure amazon will match this, but im still thinking of cancelling my preorder and getting in on this deal. Amazon might not price match till later in the release week. Heaven forbid I have to wait a couple days after release to get the movies!
K_Thompson 08-26-09, 02:12 PM Looks like this is an in store only deal. Total for purchasing at Best Buy's website is $45.98 plus tax. I has hoping that if I select in store pick up instead of having it shipped it might give me the special price, but no luck.

It's an advanced look at their Sunday flyer, I believe, so the deal probably doesn't start until Sunday.
Fargus777 08-26-09, 07:09 PM deal would actually start Tuesday when they are released.
prospect60 08-27-09, 09:17 PM The WBShop codes are active again and appear some stack. Shipping is free on most 2+ Blu's or >$60. Tax will apply in several states.
B2G1WB -- Buy2G1
783A42XP -- reactivated B2G1
FANDANGO 10 off 50
WBINSIDER25 -- 25% off one disc (most often will bump 20% to 25% on a single disc)
Also
XB992 -- 20% off, I don;t think this will work with anything that's not already discounted.
Cabinwb -- $5 off 50 though again not very useful.
It still a bit trial and error which combinations work, but some of the preorders will work though it's unpredictable.
Best deals on current eligible discs (not preorders) -- usually look for discs that are already 20-25% off and most of these will work in combinations of B4G5 or B6G7 discs.
With a preorder I could find a couple B2G2 with 1 preorder or B3G3 with 2 preorders included. I think I even found a B5G4 combination that worked with up to the 3 preorders. A definite YMMV offer and who knows how long it will last this time.
Most of these are single use per account, but checkout as a guest or set up a new account with different email.
bplewis24 08-27-09, 10:28 PM Would you mind listing or linking a reference to the pre-orders that do work for this deal? I have a lot of pre-orders in my wishlist.

terrym4 08-27-09, 11:16 PM NxNW works as preorder- I got B3G3 or B4G5 with that included.
I got B2G1WB and 783A42XP to stack. Can't use Fandango and Cabinwb together, so obviously go for Fandango ($10 vs $5). Couldn't get WBINSIDER25 to stack at all.
prospect60 08-27-09, 11:55 PM It's hard to say for sure because it really depends on what combinations you put together.
I was mostly looking at the boxsets since I was trying to get matches with True Blood + John Adams. To get the biggest discounts, it obviously helps to have similar prices though even that sometimes discounted a more expensive set unexpectedly depending on what order I put them in the cart.
Example if you do 3 preorders by themselves with the B2G1WB -- I could get a 3 for 2 to work with GWTW, Wizard of OZ, and a number of other preorders as long as they had cheaper MRSP, but not with Rome Complete or LOTR which are more expensive.
OTOH, (ROME or LOTR) plus GWTW plus most of the $60 boxes I tried worked -- $133 + tax for me.
I couldn't find any of the preorders on the Warner site that I couldn't get to work with some combinations. If there is a prexisting %off there appears to be better success.
If you are trying to get B2G2 or better then you have to do a majority of existing discs but I was never able to really find a rhyme or reason behind why some combinations worked and other didn't.
Most of the trouble seem to happen when I tried anything listed as non-discounted (Gigi, Generation Kill, GWTW, etc) I don't think I ever found anything that worked with the Batman Anthology, Gigi, or American in Paris though I didn't try a huge number of combo.
I had decent success finding combinations with Rome Complete, LOTR Trilogy, Sara Connor Chronicles S2, Fringe, National Geographic Ultimate HD.

I placed another order at WB for TV series: Pushing Daisies S1&S2 + Chuck S1 And I used the B2G1WB, XB992, Cabinwb codes. That made it $19.42 per boxset. I checked out as guest, but it disabled the fandago code at checkout right before I had to hit place order, so either it was just disabled again or it is now tied to your shipping address. I hope that helps someone else.

Thanks, prospect60. I tried each of those codes (with my existing account), removed the ones that weren't applied, and got the Dirty Harry Collection (5 movies), the Ocean's Trilogy (3 movies), and the Austin Powers Trilogy (3 movies) for $120.91 shipped.
I got b2g0, 25% and fandango 10, free ship to go! 4 pre orders, nbnw, contact, casa blancax2, all, 60 including tax($6) for ca!
Fry's will have Gladiator and Braveheart for $22.99 next week. It looks like BB may have the best deal - though only if you want both movies.

Mr Ian B 08-29-09, 11:25 AM Fry's will have Gladiator and Braveheart for $22.99 next week. It looks like BB may have the best deal - though only if you want both movies.
I think you are looking at their current price. On Tuesday it should drop to about $18.99 each and possible on their Friday's add even more.
They do this all the time with catalog titles. Would not be surprised to see them at $16.99 each.

They had it advertised in the Friday newspaper that they would be available on Tuesday for $22.99. I hope you're right that they drop on that day but I'm just telling you what was advertised. I think its ridiculous for catelog titles to be this much upon release.

I went this morning and hit that sale, and beyond the ones pictured, the sale includes AIR FORCE ONE, BLUE THUNDER, STARMAN, GO, and DOGMA. Sorry I can't remember more off the top of my head. I was happy to snag BLUE THUNDER, STARMAN, and GO. Brand new catalog releases don't go on sale so quickly, usually.

Sometimes it depends on if the stores have received them and have them in stock. All the stores in my area have them but obviously they can't be picked up until Tuesday. Check again late Monday night or early Tuesday morning. If the store in your area is stocking them, then you should be able to pre order for in-store pickup.

Yeah, I think something changed this morning.
Last night I have both in my cart, with my local location selected as pick up, but I didn't place the order.
This morning I went into the cart and noticed that "pick up" was no longer an option.
People who are wanting to order Guitar Hero 5 (in the games forums) are also seeing it happen.
No biggy really. Just place the order tomorrow morning I guess (if people really think the store will run out. Unlikely).

Louisville S 08-31-09, 02:22 PM BB has a pre-order for Snow White in a steel-book case. Any way to use this coupon for that?
http://mysite.verizon.net/nfriedman/Steels.jpg
Here's what it looks like for starters. I've heard reports of people unsuccessfully trying the coupon to cover the $7.50 deposit for the Steelbook. Technically I don't think the coupon is valid until the movie is released on October 6, 2009. You pay $7.50 plus tax for a deposit, save your receipt, and when you come back to Best Buy to pick up Snow White on Blu-ray you show Customer Service your receipt and provide them with the $10 off manufacturer's coupon.
If everything works out you should walk out of the store having paid $8.49 plus tax for Snow White (if the $25.99 pre-order price holds), but this might end up being a your mileage may vary because some Best Buy's might consider this "free Steelbook with the pre-order of Snow White" a promotion. Although it is a manufacturer's coupon and Best Buy should take it because they'll get reimbursed by the studio, some might not because they'll assume it cannot be combined with a promotion.
We'll have to see what the results are when October rolls around.
Smarty-pants 08-31-09, 02:33 PM $25.99 minus $10 is $15.99. How do you manage to get it down to $8.49.
$8.49 would be in ADDITION to the $7.50 paid earlier.
So the final price would be $15.99 + tax, correct?
Saying "you should walk out of the store having paid $8.49 plus tax for Snow White" is misleading.

I put down a $7.50 deposit and paid $0.47 in sales tax. I walked out with the Steelbook.
Let's assume the $25.99 price does not change.
$25.99 minus the $7.50 deposit is $18.49. The deposit is what you're paying towards the movie. $18.49 minus the manufacturer's coupon would be $8.49 plus tax.
I had to pay tax on the deposit though. I wonder what they'll give me off when I go pick up Snow White in October.
My total was $7.97. Do they subtract $7.97 from $25.99 or $7.50 from $25.99? I end up paying sales tax twice?
$25.99 - $7.50 - $10.00 =$8.49 plus tax.
$25.99 - $7.97 - $10.00 =$8.02 plus tax.
Hmm this does seem low.

$7.50 is the deposit. When the movie comes out, you'll need to pay the remaining $18.49. With the coupon, you might only have to pay $8.49, but you've already paid $7.50, so your total with the coupon is $15.99 (8.49 + 7.50 = $15.99)

It is an exclusive deal with Best Buy. You walk into Best Buy; pick up the Snow White SteelBook, put down a $7.50 deposit, plus you pay sales tax. October 6 rolls around, you go back to Best Buy, and pay whatever Snow White costs less the deposit plus tax. Now there is a $10 off manufacturer’s coupon floating around the internet so be sure to print that out and bring it to the store when you pick up Snow White anytime after October 6. The SteelBook is empty, I repeat it is empty -- it is just the case! The SteelBook has three empty slots for the two Blu-rays and one DVD that comes with the regular Snow White Combo Blu-ray.

$10 off Coupon for Snow White on Blu-Ray
Credit goes to Brute99 of Blu-ray.com, but basically you enter the UPC off the DVD box and you can print the $10 off coupon off the Blu-ray DVD Combo.
http://disney.go.com/disneymovierewards/snowwhite/?cmp=dmov_dmr_url_swupgrade_tv
The UPC you need to enter once you login to Disney Rewards is:
786936150605
Once you login, enter the UPC in the Enter Code Box and you will be taken to the page to print your coupon.
There should be someone offering it for under $25 on release week so it should be good! The coupon is only good for 2 weeks in October so make sure you purchase ASAP once it’s released in October.
Depending how much sales tax is in your area it should look similar to this:

(Sales tax in Massachusetts is 6.250%)
The way pre-orders work at BB is you pay tax on the pre-order portion. Then you "return" the pre-order part as credit, and you purchase the item at the full price. Essentially you've bought a Gift Card of the value of the pre-order price plus tax, if applicable.

Thanks. I just tried to place my order again and the option was now available.
BB has a pre-order for Snow White in a steel-book case.
Just FYI, all the steel book type cases especially the multi disc type all suck. The hubs are either really hard to remove the discs from the case or so easy that any kind of shaking lets them float around in the case getting scratched. As a test I put in a bad burned CD-R into one of my steel cases that were hard to remove the discs from and when not properly done I broke it in half. So those of you with kids or wanting to keep your discs in perfect condition might want to not use that case.

Filmmaker 09-01-09, 11:52 AM POP tab is required. It doesn't require the UPC.
It does, however, also require the proof of purchase from the new Blu-ray, which is another "butcher your packaging to get money back" b.s. offer. I'll pass. Until the proof of purchase is put on an otherwise useless insert, and not the actual case or chapter insert, I'll never make use of these deals. I didn't buy the case to mangle it.
Picked up Gladiator and Braveheart with the BB deal. Have Gladiator on DVD so after rebate it'll net to less than $13 a piece. Hoping that maybe a l local pawn shop has Braveheart for a couple of bucks and send them both in for the rebate to get 'em down to less than $10 each.
Anxious to see Gladiator with all the uproar about PQ. Here's hoping it still at least looks better than my DVD upscalled!

Also the SteelBook comes with a slipcover as well. If you take the slipcover off there is no writing on the spine.

Considering that most of their titles are already 20% off, that coupon seems pretty redundant unless it stacks.

Not sure how you came up with $7.99 each. According to your receipt:
Galdiator: $17.99 + $1.26 tax = $19.25
Braveheart: $17.99+ $1.26 tax = $19.25
$19.25 x 2 = $38.50 - $10 mail in rebate = $28.50
$28.50 / 2 = $14.25 per movie.
Still not a bad price.
Is the mail in rebate $10 per movie ($20 total) or is it just a flat $10?

The $10 rebate is per movie. So he was correct it does come out to $7.99 a piece before tax.
valkyrie 09-01-09, 10:31 PM Yeah, this is one of the best BR deals in a while for those that want both (note: the $17.99 price requires you buy both BRs). Hell, you can probably sell the DVD's for a few more bucks each and make out nicely. $7.99 plus tax (or less) for $39.99 MSRP Blu-Ray's on release day is a pretty hot deal IMHO.

That's IF you get a rebate back. I quit trying to get rebates after trying to follow a rebate that I hadn't heard about in three months. The distributor (who was almost impossible to reach) was no help because a third party was handling the rebates - and they were totally clueless. After I had spent over an hour and a half on the phone getting nowhere, I hung up and decided not to bother with rebates any more. Life is too short for that kind of nonsense.

For the record, I've never NOT gotten a rebate (knock on wood).
Me too. But they throw up bogus roadblocks. The check simply doesn't arrive. There's no proactive communication from them (of course), they're just hoping I won't notice. So I call. "You didn't include the UPC," they say. "Yes, I did," I say. "Oh, OK, " they say, and voila, the check arrives in a week. They seem to want to make sure you're paying attention and they can't get away with simply not doing anything. I'm sure they make a lot of money through the inaction of customers. So, in my experience, follow up, let them know you're alive and paying attention and they'll send you the check... eventually.
Louisville S 09-02-09, 04:50 PM Wow. That is a really good deal. And I do own both on SD so I'll be taking advantage of this before the 5th.
I decided to get both even though I only really wanted Braveheart. After I receive the money from the mail-in rebates the movies would only be $9.10 each after sales tax so for that price it was worth it.
I mailed my rebates out today, and made a file in my filing cabinet with photocopies of everything so if I have a problem I've at least covered my ass.
Hopefully I'll receive my $20 between Tuesday, October 13, 2009 and Tuesday, October 27, 2009. I wonder if I've increased my chances of getting the rebates sooner considering I sent them out the day after the movies were released.
Only time will tell.
For people who don't have the mail-in rebate in hand yet here's what you have to do:
1.) Proof-of-purchase tab or UPC from your original DVD.
2.) Proof-of-purchase tab from your Blu-ray ™ Hi-Def version of the same movie.
3.) Cash register receipt for your NEW Blu-ray ™ Hi-Def purchase imprinted with store name and dated between 9/1/09 – 6/30/10 with purchase price circled (photocopies acceptable).
4.) This original, hand-printed, completed certificate (no photocopies allowed).
You’ll receive a $10 rebate by mail. Please allow 6-8 weeks for check to arrive.
Mail to:
CMS Fulfillment Center
Blu-ray ™ $10 Trade-In Offer
P.O. Box 426008
Del Rio, TX 78842-6008
There are areas on the mail-in rebate for taping the UPC and Proof-of-purchase, however the area is very small. I suggest writing down the address first before you tape the UPC for it may block the address on the form. They really don't give you much room at all.
Is there any other place in the Braveheart blu-ray that has the proof of purchase other than the back of the case? I really don't want to destroy the back of the case. Some have said in some Blurays that there areproof's of purchase on an insert inside. i was wondering if it was that case with Braveheart?

I didn't see any Proof-of-purchase tabs inside my Braveheart or Gladiator cases. Man, it is a very small cut out to get the Proof-of-purchase tabs off the back of the cover art. You won't even see it once your case is tucked neatly away, spine out, on a shelf. I highly doubt you'll notice it while watching the movie unless you plan on staring at the back of the case rather then watching the movie, ;)
I ended up cutting out the Proof-of-purchase tabs on the back of the cover art on both Gladiator and Braveheart.
Another suggestion -- if you have a really good all-in-one printer you could scan the Blu-ray cover art and cut out the proof of purchase on the copy rather than the original. I have a feeling that will void the rebate though as they probably won’t take photocopies . . . unless they can't tell.
There are areas on the mail-in rebate for taping the UPC and Proof-of-purchase, however the area is very small. I suggest writing down the address first before you tape the UPC for it may block the address on the form. They really don't give you much room at all.
I'll do so! But I would like to wait! $10 off deal from amazon on both?
Louisville S 09-02-09, 06:21 PM I'll do so! But I would like to wait! $10 off deal from amazon on both?
So far Amazon has not matched Best Buy's deal. $22.99 for Gladiator, $22.49 for Braveheart. $45.48, free shipping, unless you live in an area where Amazon charges sales tax.
You'll pay $35.98 plus sales tax if you buy both at Best Buy.
They should both come with mail in rebates if you buy them from Amazon, but I cannot confirm.
Fry's matched the BB deal in Dallas. It was a pleasant surprise on checkout, and made my nervousness about the Gladiator release diminish greatly...

I didn't realize you could send in just the proof of purchase part and not the whole upc code. I didn't want cut off such a big part of the back but the proof of purchase is nothing. But with it cut off I may not be able to keep my eyes off that section of the case while I'm watching the movie though ;)

On mine, there were a stickers on the front indicating the deal and the actual rebate forms inside. P-O-P are on the back cover. Both have to be original, the sales receipt can be a photocopy.
Keep copies of everything. I'm still working with CMS to get my $10 rebate for Godfather from months ago. They rejected it (for no good reason), so I needed to fax a copy again. Without a copy, I'd be SOL.

I have the Tom Petty one and was not all that impressed with the sound. Would have to listen to it again to go more in detail, but it was nothing special from a sound perspective in my opinion.
I have also watched the Sheryl Crow SS and that one sounded great to my ears. Dont know about the others besides those 2.

That's when you need to be cautious and YMMV.
When it comes to rebates, it may really depend on the specific person processing the form. If all requirements are not met EXACTLY, they may toss it out.
I have received EVERY rebate I've submitted the last 5 years totaling over $1000 but I fill them out exactly per their form and do not deviate from the instructions. I also re-read it several times to make sure I didn't miss anything and keep a copy. I even received the $600 cash rebate on my projector last year and my recent one of two $10 checks from Mobil.

I doubt that would work man. You need to follow the directions precisely or they may reject it. Got a friend that has both Gladiator and Braveheart on DVD with the UPCs? Perhaps go to a pawn shop or used game store and see if you can find Gladiator and Braveheart cheap (around $3) just so you can cut out valid UPCs or a Proof-of-purchase.

I don't know. It's ridiculous. I happened to be in Delaware, just over the PA border from my home, and bought these discs at a BB there. It's absurd that they wouldn't honor the rebate. What about the thousands and thousands of people who buy things near work and commute home to a different state? DC/Maryland, NYC/New Jersey, Chicago/Indiana, etc.
Absurd.

sunnysky 09-15-09, 06:53 AM At Best Buy, has anybody had any luck getting X-Men 2 in the "buy 2 for $30 on hero movies" sale?
In the ad, it only showed X-men 1 and 3. I'm wondering if there are other titles included in the sale that aren't listed.
Free shipping at Family Video through Sept 19 with code SeptFree
http://www.familyvideo.com/catalog/current_mailer.php
Though the website provides that same code, apparently it is in error. The actual code appears to be:
SEPTFREE
Mod edit: As requested before, please do not post after market private/semi private "for sale" information. These would include, but not limited to:
Amazon Market Place
Ebay
AVS Classified
Craig's List
Any classified ad or auction site.
Several reasons are they are typically a "one off" sale (meaning one copy) and by promoting private/individual or semi individual sales would open this up to abuse. There is nothing to stop someone from promoting their own private ads etc.
Thanks

Phil Tomaskovic 09-16-09, 11:34 AM ST TNG is $43.69 @ Amazon today (gold box offer) making the movies less than $11 per.
Couldn't find those titles new at that price @ A or @ AM. The only gold box I see is for Led Zeppelin cd box set?
Brajesh 09-16-09, 11:39 AM Those offers will vary for different people, but I have it for $43.69 (38% off) as well. I'm in no rush and if Amazon's pricing history is any indication, I bet this set will sell at 50% off a weeks after release.
Doug Schiller 09-16-09, 12:39 PM As always with Wal-Mart, these are YMMV but I saw a bunch of Blu-Rays for $10 and they all weren't the usual Mpeg2 brigade:
Windtalkers
RoboCop
Terminator 3
Silence of the Lambs (Best Buy was selling this for $35 at one time)
American Psycho
Sisterhood of the Pants 2
Superman (78)
Wild Bunch
and more that I am forgetting
Doug Schiller 09-17-09, 07:24 AM Got a sneek peek at next week's Best Buy ad and there is a great deal on Star Trek TOS Season 2 Blu-Ray.
I'm almost 100% that this is correct but the box art is a little different then Amazon.
Anyway, they are selling it for $59.99.
That is like $20 cheaper then Amazon (for now).

They're all $29.99, so you're paying around $15 each. I believe there's also a free shipping over $25 going on Thursday thru Sunday.

Deals and clarifications of those deals only in this thread, please.
rboster 09-17-09, 02:46 PM These threads are obviously really helpful to people that only buy brand new sealed BDs, but for those of us that don't mind buying used, I can usually get them well under $15. For people like me that have about 100+ titles at home, if buying them used is the cheapest price I can get it at, the savings really adds up.
Concerning used blu ray titles. One can post companies like Blockbuster's used sales etc. Posting used titles being auctioned or sold by a individual etc (see post #7201) is not allowed for the reasons already stated.
I'm not sure if you were making a statement or asking a question?
I think over-riding factior members forget is AVS is not a place to seek out "deals or where to buy at the best street price" advice. AVS is about discussions of a technical nature. This thread is set up as a courtesy by the ownership. If you looking for a place to discuss deals, there are sites like fatwallet or dvdtalk, whose primary focus is where to buy and prices.
I realize this thread is limited in nature and may not serve everyone's specific needs or wants, but it is what it is and can't change to due the nature of the AVS focus/purpose.
Back to the reg. programming:
Please remember to state the deal or ask a question specific to a deal. ....this is at the request of the majority to keep the thread useful and easy to follow the deals (since time maybe of the essence). Thanks!

To clarify the Fry's post, the middle ad is for two movies in a twin pack for $19.99. Was at Fry's and they are regular BD movies shrink wrapped together. Not a bad price at all.
Also, those "Two for $25.98" titles are actually available singly at $12.99, you do not have to buy them in pairs (though I did, getting International and Underworld).

I placed an order several days ago. Used standard FREE shipping. Ordered 5 items, with one of the items being a pre-order. Was no big deal for me to wait, as the pre-order comes out very soon. Checking my order status though, it says all of my titles other than the pre-order has shpped. So apparantly they will ship them seperately.
I also placed an order with them a couple of months ago, all used Blu-rays. They use Media Mail for their free shipping, so it took a while to get the discs. When they arrived, some of the cases had some slight wear, but still decent shape, and all of the discs were perfect. I was pleasantly surprised. Hopefully this time around they will be just as nice.
It took me a long time to browse through their site to find what to buy, but I did notice that with using the current coupon and free shipping, there can be some decent deals to be had on the new releases and pre-orders where the final price trumps Amazon and others by a decent amount.
The biggest road bumps are that the site is not user friendly and it can be difficult to find titles. I typed in "Blu-ray" and had to browse through like 117 pages .
Another thing is that they also charge tax to most (maybe all) states.

If you would like a easier way to get only Blu rays try http://www.wherehouse.com/movies/container.jsp?name=dvd.hd.blueray it at least seperates the blu rays out although I haven't figured out how to sort the list.

I didn't realize that... but you're right. I checked to verify it was an online deal... and also that 1 of the two had to be the new Trek movie. Still a good deal if you happen to need/want both... but even in my case it doesn't apply because of already having a pre-order elsewhere.

Star Trek '09 comes out in November.

The Canterbury Tales
Arabian Nights

The Bedsitting Room

toxic_avenger 09-23-09, 10:36 PM Don't know if this has been posted yet but you can get Snow white BR for 14.99 at Amazon. Just put in this code snowhite and it takes 10 bucks off the total(which is currently 24.99). I just preordered it tonight. I know some are going for the BB SB but if you don't care for SB and want it I thought this is a good deal.
Edit-Forgot credit to Adboy151 from DVDTalk forums.
Pugnax555 09-24-09, 06:05 AM Anyone know if the snowhite code stacks with the other Snow White coupon that Disney was offering a little while back?
daPriceIs 09-24-09, 09:09 AM Based on what I was able to find out, it is not stackable. This is simply Amazon's version of the Disney coupon.
Mark Booth 09-24-09, 11:29 AM So how come the Target exclusive deals for next week haven't already been mentioned in this thread? Is it a violation of forum policy to post ads early?

Nothing wrong with posting ads and sales. Someone always has to be "the one" to do it though.;) Go for it!
Rambo 1-3 is $15 @ inet + sh (about $3 per disc).
Also, Milk, 88 Minutes and a few other good titles are $10 per.
And...Target is to have the WofO for $35 (disc only) next week.

Target Deals for next week:
The 'Monsters vs Aliens' BD/DVD combo pack will sell for $24.99. Like the regular BD edition, it will include the short 'B.O.B.'s Big Break' and four pairs of 3-D glasses.
The Target release of 'The Wizard of Oz' shows a price of $34.99, whereas the cheapest price for the Ultimate Collector's Edition is about $51. Going from the picture of the case, it stands to reason that all or some of the collectibles from the UCE might have been dropped. There is no information at this stage about what actual disc extras the Target edition will include.
