Bought G-Force and Inglourious Basterds at Target last night, was nice to see they had no problems running the $5 coupons on a single transaction, though the cashier did have to override the redplum coupon (it said missing item for some reason).

I don't know if this has been mentioned and it isn't a great deal but Best Buy.com is giving away the Hangover with select Blu-Ray player purchases. I bought a player for the bedroom last week and I was hoping I could get them to give me the disc in store, but I guess its online only so they say I have to buy it online then return the original player (no biggie since its still in box waiting for Christmas). This seems dumb from their perspective though as they have to do 3 credit card transactions rather than just give me the disc. Oh well.

I was able to get Target to price match Wal-Mart's $19.96 price on Public Enemies last night. Got it for $11.99 after the PM, manufacturer's coupon and store coupon! I printed out the entire list of in-store BD's available at $19.96 at Wal-Mart and shoved it into their circular...the woman never raised an eyebrow.

I guess you are not too familiar with Amazon's Gold Box Deal Of The Day....they can and do regularly sell out (if the price is right and the item is popular)....sometimes if something sells out, they put something else up to replace it for the rest of the day, but not every time, and even then it may not be in the same category (ie: it may not be a different set of BDs)....

Generally the Gold Box deal starts somewhere around 12 Midnight Pacific Time. Sometimes it will may be a few minutes late, but somewhere in the neighborhood.

Yeah I went last night and bought the 6 that they had left. ( I had to use 3 different computers at work to get the disney coupons. Ive been using multiple $5 discounts in the same transaction but last night they had to do 6 seperate transactions. Oh well. I think I had to pay tax on the original amount or something because mine came out to around $3.05. I picked up WAR for 4.99 while I was there too. Never seen it so for a dollar more than a rental, I figured I'd give it a shot.

The BB price is only good through Saturday, though, so you'll have to hustle. But I walked out of Target today getting it for $10.59, which after the rebate will be 59 cents, plus my 44 cents postage to mail it in. It was just a suggestion. I expected it to be shouted down, frankly, but I hoped it might go over better than asking for the incessant chatter about gaming the system to stop. It would certainly make it easy to skip posts that don't have new deals in them!

Personally, I don't care about "deals" that involve driving, standing in lines, and spending significant amounts of time in order to save a few dollars, especially if they depend on how some cashier interprets a coupon. I would love to be able to scan this thread quickly for new deals that aren't just another variation on that theme. Thus the suggestion for adding a "headline."

I drive as little as possible because it's wasteful, of time, energy, and money, that's all. I take the train or ride my bike to work, and combine my local errands into as few trips as possible. I know many people live in places where you're trapped without a car. I don't.

you are an economic expert! that's exactly what I did last night. I have learned my lesson and as they say in Ben-Hur...."it goes on. The..race..is..not...OVER".

This isn't a great deal by any stretch but Amazon finally dropped their price of Poltergeist and The Shawshank Redemption to 21.49 each. Not my personal buying point, but I did have to get them for a gift.

I saw the earlier conversation about Band of Brothers at Costco this week and the concern it may be $34.99 instead of $29.99. I just picked it up at Costco for $29.99. It was marked $44.99 and there was no sign indicating a sale but it rang up at $29.99 and showed a $15.00 savings on the receipt.

That depends.... If you search blu-ray like I do on Amazon you will get the same or similar search results, and definitely be offered the same price.

I check Amazon at least a few times per week on Blu-ray deals and if you do as well you will see similar deals that I get.

Its worth a check. I get the same offerings that others get on here most of the time.

Since this post got revived in the last post above mine, I guess it's OK to point out that you were responding to someone who lives in Connecticut. State law here prohibits the expiration of gift cards and the assessment of regular fees from the balances. You can pretty much sit on a gift card or certificate indefinitely without penalty.

I don't know if it's the same for all but Amazon loaded another bunch of quick picks for me to choose from a few minutes ago. I've never had more than 1 bunch of choices per day, they don't usually change till after midnight or after, but today is different for me so check yours for possibility of more choices.

Going back and reading the last couple of pages, members have stated that they've used multiple Target coupons within the same purchase. ie; two BR titles, two coupons, one receipt.

It worked for most here and myself. I actually printed 2 coupons then and made copies on my Printer/Scanner. Gave 2 to a friend and used 4 myself at my local Target sucessfully.

I think with the pricing changing every day this December and Holiday Season its valuable to see new combinations of the Target Coupon. Many of the savings opportunities only exist with use of the Coupon and/or Price matching, and I dont always think of every opportunity unless members post them:)

Well, in defense of Target, Public Enemies was 19.99 it's opening week (or else 22.99) and like most new releases at Target the price jumped to 29.99 after the initial week just like Ingl Basterds this week. The $3 coupon wasn't widely available yet or maybe not at all. I never could find a moment when both PE and IB were 19.99 to get all those coupons boiling simultaneously like with Up/Monsters when those first came out.


The Target coupons expire a very sad death 12/24 though my bank account will likely appreciate it. I just wish there was a really good deal available on 500 Days of Summer, but that appears to be like Julie and Julia being destined to ride the high price line for a while.

It's worth a try. You might be better off getting PE from Target and trying that, so that you can show them your IB receipt if needed.

STRONGLY suggest a rent with G.I. Joe! If you like it enough, you could always buy it but chances are 1 viewing will be enough. Also, this is certainly not a demo type disc for audio or video IMO. MUCH better discs for that purpose as well.

I too purchased IB from Target last week, but not Public Enemies. I just got back from Target. I price matched PE at Walmart for $19.96. Used the $5 Target coupon + $3 Public Enemies coupon (from paper) + the $5 peelie coupon from the front of IB. I had my IB receipt, just in case, but she never asked for it. At first the peelie coupon didn't work and it said "too many coupons". I told her it was from the front of IB that I bought last week and they told me then I could come back and use the coupon this week. She did a manual over-ride, so YMMV.

$19.96-$5-$5-$3 = $6.96

Those are sold by individuals. It's similar to Ebay, but everything has a fixed price. I buy and sell stuff on Amazon Marketplace, but like Ebay it depends on the seller. Look for someone with a good feedback score. Also keep in mind, that you have to add shipping to everything (around $3).

I did my first Target PM using the Walmart ad and they only do PM at the customer service desk.

So those who are going to Target to PM might want to head straight to the CS desk with your items/ads so you don't waste time in the standard lines only to be told to go to the CS desk.

ST had great sound moments, but GIJ had continuous action sound during the whole movie. I think my rears (7.1) were active about 75% of the time with GIJ, compared to 15% of the time with ST.

TARGET PRICE MATCHING

Just an fyi-
I did my first Target PM using the Walmart ad and they only do PM at the customer service desk.

So those who are going to Target to PM might want to head straight to the CS desk with your items/ads so you don't waste time in the standard lines only to be told to go to the CS desk.

Actually this is true some of the time. I have had more than one manager and regular associates price match and take coupon in the Electronics dept.

After the manager pmed for me in Electronics the first time, I came back another day for a different BD and the clerk said I had to go to CS counter. I told him it was done in Electronics before and he said "Oh I didn't know we could do it here. Let me see what key to use."

It took all of 5 seconds for him to figure it out and I was out the door. Very easy process.

Overall: 8. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Was riveted to the screen the whole time.

Coincidentally, I also watched Star Trek today and overall I enjoyed GI Joe more. ST has a better story, better acting and a better plot, but thought it was somewhat dull at times. Maybe it's because I expected ST to be fantastic and GIJ to stink.

7-10 dollars?? I bought it today for 11.96 plus tax, thought that was a good deal (PM to Walmart then used the two coupons)...I didn't think it was a great movie, but it was worth 12 bucks in my opinion

I PM'd at target for GI Joe and used coupon no problem. Guy tried to do PM at electronics and even had a cheat sheet on it. Then he asked the guy next to him if he had done a PM before and he said I had to go to CS. CS rep did the PM no problem, just looked the WM ad over carefully then entered it. I said, oh, I want this candy too. She scanned it. I said, Oh I have a coupon too. She scanned it too, no problem. The movie is for my teen boys who will love it no matter how bad people say it is. They will watch it several times as they have both transformer movies so it is worth 15 to me.

The 5pm EST Amazon Lightning Deal will most likely be some form of Planet of the Apes (Heston). Whether that's BD or DVD, one movie or the 40th anniversary edition, I'm not sure.

If I had to take an educated GUESS based on past deals, I would GUESS that it will be the 40th Anniversary BD for about $45. I could be completely wrong, though.

Price adjustments on items you have received from Amazon are no longer available.
If you received it and it's now cheaper, you can only return/reorder. They stopped with price adjustment policy within the return period, etc.

You may mind a kind CSR that will adjust it, but it's no longer their policy unless it's a pre-order (you haven't received yet, etc.)

The box it comes in is very heavy duty and not necessarily poor, but I did not like it at all.
First, it's huge. Second, there's no snap or velcro or anything to keep it closed.
You have to fold out the entire box to get the discs out, and the hubs that hold the discs hold them so tight, that if feels like you are going to break the disc in half trying to get it out.

I watched the first movie and the PQ was really not great. I know it's old, but it's only marginally better than the dvd.
The lossless sound is crap.
It may as well have been stereo, which probably sounded better anyway.
For huge fans of the movies, I suppose it's a must buy.
I really like the movies myself, but I ended up selling the set and may rebuy them when the individual discs get cheap.
At least the single movies will only take up half the room of this huge box set.

You are right, it's sold out at my local Targets. I assume I'll find it if I go to the bigger Targets in a few more miles away. According to RottenTomatoes.com, Hangover has 78% rating while Distrinct 9 has 90% rating. 78% rating is pretty impressive for a stupid drunk comedy movie.

There are a number of reasons the owners want the focus on tech. discussions on not where to buy and what price. If you are looking for that type of discussion there are a lot of other forums where that is the focus.

Not only that, but my Target was trying to argue that their 3 disk special edition of Trek was a special edition and didn’t warrant a price match to Wallyworld. I had to argue to have them call up. Sure enough it’s the same “Three disk” product (Damn you movie marketers).

Then they tried denying the coupon, but they finally took it.

Guess I got the lady on her bad day. Guess finding competent help is hard too, as she had no idea about their polices or price matching and was fighting me the entire way. Always wondered why some retail workers make it into a fight, when we here are following their corporate policy to the T.

I had previously found out about CE3K through this thread, and was able to go back into the store and purchase it with my $15 refund, and only had to pay the sales tax out of my own pocket. Just thought I'd share this as a way to express my personal appreciation for this thread.

Please observe that the US release is 7 discs, and includes The Animatrix in high def and includes 2 discs of special features. The UK release is 3 discs and only has the 3 main movies, no Animatrix and no 2 special features discs. So the UK price is not a direct comparison as it is not the same product.

Probably little point in mentioning other deals for these bluray titles for as long as they're still available at Targets for $5.00 after the ubiquitous $5 printable coupon is applied (ends tomorrow).

I just wish I had been able to get to Target that first week of the coupon, when the most outrageously good deals were available; i.e., from foggy memory... super cheap <$10 Gone With The Wind & Coraline, $5 I Am Legend, etc.

Now we need to see if any after christmas specials pop up

Ocean's Trilogy for £14.98 at Amazon UK; I expect that would work out to about $25-28 US with shipping. Absolutely scathing reviews about picture quality, though.
