View Full Version : NEW NEW Blu-ray Special Buys, Discounts, BOGO Thread
ShagMan 06-18-08, 10:04 AM This thread will always have all of the current Blu-ray DEALs on the FIRST page, so you won't have to search to find out what's available.
I will update this post at least once per day. If you have items to be added to this list, please PM me the info so I can add it to this post during my next update. If you do not email, don't expect the deal to make it to this post.
Try to include a link in your PM, so I can transfer that to the first page. If there is no link, at least please include all important info such as Store, Online/Instore, item(s), price, expiration date, coupon code (if applicable). I will TRY to test all submissions. I'll PM you back requesting more info if necessary. It will also be helpful to PM me about when a deal is expired so I can update it accordingly. You do not need to do that about run-of-the-mill expirations like a Best Buy sale only, for instance, like an Amazon BOGO, where no one knows the expiration date.
Look for the current links in ORANGE or BLUE (Note: If no link available, there will be an explanation of the deal)
Deals that have expired will be updated to a red EXPIRED color so you'll know they're no longer valid. I'll delete the expired deals after a few days to avoid unecessary distractions.
HERE ARE THE CURRENT DEALS

One of my orders from DeepDiscount just arrived. I got the shipment confirmation on June 6th, so it took 12 calendar days to arrive. There's no postmark date, so I can't tell when it actually shipped.
PooperScooper 06-18-08, 11:01 AM Thanks ShagMan for doing this! Folks repost any deals that may have been missed in the switch over.

I believe you can still send in the original to get the remastered. That said, I dont think anyone has had the old one for sale for a while. But I dont know that there is a way to tell without contacting the seller.

SDRANGER619 06-18-08, 12:36 PM Thanks for taking this thread over ShagMan...this is an awesome service to us.
Nexus 6 06-18-08, 12:43 PM Thanks ShagMan, it is appreciated. :D
Yep, deals to be had at Tower.com. I ordered 4 titles tonight...Cloverfield, Rambo ($19.86), The Fifth Element ($11.86), and Underworld ($11.86). And free shipping over $25!
Wow, got email notification that Cloverfield, Rambo, and The Fifth Element all shipped today. I just ordered last night and at the time of the order Cloverfield mentioned something like 2-4 weeks before shipment would happen!
Also, I researched The Fifth Element fairly thoroughly to verify if it is the Remastered version.....it is. You can check the UPC and release date to verify.
toneman 06-18-08, 01:35 PM Slightly off-topic, but waiting for someone to say that the $10-off coupon for the BD version of NT2 that's shown in the very first post in this thread should not have been posted since it is not an Internet coupon--i.e., (IIRC) it is included in SD DVD copies of NT2. IOW--the only way you can legitimately obtain this coupon is if you purchase/own the SD DVD version of NT2 (or, if you can convince a Buena Vista CS rep that your "copy" of NT2 somehow was missing the coupon ;)).
Not that I personally have anything against the coupon being posted in this thread, or if anyone chooses to use a copy of said coupon...but I would not be surprised if someone else decides to play coupon police; I got "chastised" for posting info about it on one of the other A/V forum sites.
Thanks a bunch for the new thread!
I Am Legend is down to $14.49 at Amazon.
Id love to know this as well, $17 and ill be all over this
me too, i paid over 27
gimmiefuel 06-18-08, 02:10 PM The Rambo Trilogy deal was through buy.com and then using google check out.

I just go a shipment from WHV. Great service and very promt shipping. I must add that Batman Begins did not ship with the rest of my order. I wonder if it is not yet out on Blu Ray, so they will ship it to me when it is released??
By the way... thanks Shagman for taking over this thread.

Sure they will send it to you when it comes in, and usually very close to street date.
Looks like they got their issues from a year ago ironed out. Certainly at $13.99 for many of the Warner BD titles this remains as good a deal as you can find.
rutlian 06-18-08, 04:17 PM Me 2, saved $17+!! Thanx!!
I already have the rambo trilogy pack (with tin case) do you guys think it is worth double dipping with rambo being in bluray? This is so tempting.
Where can I get A PASSAGE TO INDIA the cheapest?
Me 2, saved $17+!! Thanx!!
I know you used google checkout but, if you are a returning customer how can you use google checkout again? Can you please explain to me the trick?

Sort of.
I order the Orphanage three weeks ago and it still hasn't shipped.
Asked them yesterday when it will ship and they said 2-3 weeks as it's on backorder but their site doesn't indicate instock/back order on their items.
Lookilook 06-18-08, 04:38 PM I know you used google checkout but, if you are a returning customer how can you use google checkout again? Can you please explain to me the trick?
1st time customer so I'm not sure. Other than a new email addy and new CC?
Lookilook 06-18-08, 04:50 PM I already have the rambo trilogy pack (with tin case) do you guys think it is worth double dipping with rambo being in bluray? This is so tempting.
Its cheaper than gas...well almost..:)
bigmyke23 06-18-08, 05:09 PM Looks like they got their issues from a year ago ironed out.
No, not all their issues. It took my order a solid two weeks before it arrived. You can't beat the price, but their shipping is still hit or miss.
rutlian 06-18-08, 05:13 PM oh well I ordered the Rambo trilogy also, When I was doing the goggle check out I turned out to be a member already, it's been about more than a year ago when I first used the google account so put in my other email address and click placed order and they accepted it deducting the 10.00 google checkout.

Two weeks? So. I don't see the problem. Seems resonable to me. All my amazon orders take about that long.
No one has patience.

EXACTLY the same with my order. I have an order from DVDplanet coming that was mailed on the 12th. As I think they use the same mailing as DD, it'll be interesting to see how long it takes.

Six hours after ordering Cloverfield from Tower.com, I recieved a shipping confirmation, too . (Guess they got a new shipment!)
Also of note, Men in Black and Blade Runner have shipped as well. I've recieved three separate e-mail notifications for these titles... So I'm getting 10 packages with my orders? Usually you have to pay more for that.
Also, Thanks Shabre and Pugnax555 for your replies in the other thread. Crossing my fingers that Shabre's experience is mine. :)

DD split my order up into two shipments, one "sent" on the 7th, the other on the 8th. I just got the one that was "sent" on the 8th. Too bad it only had one disc in it. I'm still waiting for the package with my other 4 movies. Hopefully it'll show up tomorrow.

lgans316 06-18-08, 10:50 PM amazon.com - VANTAGE POINT - $17.95
I went ahead and bought the Rambo Trilogy via DD/Buy/Google for $17.88. Wow, gotta love the complexity of our modern world. I paid via a virtual credit card number supplied to Google checkout, which processed an order from Buy.com that is actually being sold and shipped by Deep Discount.
As a sidenote, I bought my first Blu-ray player Sunday night (06/15/08) and have already bought 14 discs!! Average cost is currently $13.55. Who says Blu is expensive? Perhaps I'm just hitting a time that is a really good buyer's market. Deals have been great, but I've gotta stop visiting this forum for the sake of my pocketbook. :)
yankee14 06-19-08, 12:30 AM I tried to get this to my user Cp, but could not find a way to do it.
Sorry if it offends anyone and if you can tell me for the next time hoew to ad a thread i would appreciate it.
I have saved a lot of time an money using the thread.

Well said. When people like me sitting abroad is able to find good deals and post them in forums like these, it should very much be possible for the ones sitting stateside who are cribbing about the high price.
Btw tower.com has Jumper for $22.98.
DM2006RI 06-19-08, 12:51 AM No, not all their issues. It took my order a solid two weeks before it arrived. You can't beat the price, but their shipping is still hit or miss.
2 weeks is an "issue"? I'd never order from DD -- or a lot of these online retailers -- then if I were you.
I've had 3 orders -- 2 of them large ones -- ship within a week since mid June. That's way better than not having items ship at all as they did last year!

invadergir 06-19-08, 01:23 AM Heads up to Canadian users. EB Games stores in Canada have the Spider-man Trilogy $20 Brand New.
I thought it was for a used copy of the series which was still an awesome deal and when i got to the counter they brought out a completely sealed Trilogy set. So naturally i bought 2 copies to see what i can get for resale later on :D

FYI. Tower sends separate emails for each item as it's packed. Your order will come in one package, but w/ a separate packing slip for each item you ordered. If some items in your order haven't shipped yet, then you'll have to wait until they are processed until the whole order ships out. I don't know if this is the way they handle all their orders, but this is the way they've handled mine in the past.

Yes, two weeks is an issue for me. That is why I NEVER order from DD anymore, regardless of whatever supposed "sale" they may be having. The minimal discount is not worth it to me, if I have to wait a few weeks for my items to ship. I rather pay a little higher price to Amazon and receive my product in 3 days or so.
Let me be clear, the problem I have is not with the timeliness of the actually shipping, but with the amount of time it takes for the product to be shipped. In my experience with WHV and my previous ones with DD, my products were in stock when I ordered them, and my credit card was charged immediately. However, my movies didn't actually ship from the vendor for about a week, if not much longer. Therein lies my problem. I fail to understand how in stock items that I paid for take at least a week before they are actually shipped.
Apparently, a two week or longer wait-time isn't a problem for some. If so, that's fine. I was just stating my experience to give everyone a general timeframe as to when to expect their orders.

Yes. AFTER they are shipped. I get mine a few days after they are shlpped as well. But that's not the problem. With free shipping Amazon doesn't even ship them out for about 7 days after I actually order them.
edit: just checked order history. Ordered three instock movies on May 15th, shipped on May 25th. One movie ordered on May 29th, shipped on June 10th. Last order was actually quick. Ordered on June 3rd, shipped on June 6th.

NBK should be listed for $20 this sunday 6/22 @ Target. That's all that Target has for sunday that's noteworthy.
Lookilook 06-20-08, 12:18 PM For those who got the deal with Rambo box set with buy.com (17.88) are yours whowing ship yet? Mine ordered yesterday and it says not shipped yet.
I think we ordered at the same time, mine just shipped-
"Dear Buy.com Customer,
The following items on your Buy.com Marketplace order have shipped! The seller, DeepDiscount has confirmed the shipment was sent on Thursday, June 19, 2008.
You have selected Standard shipping and should receive your item(s) in 4 to 14 business days."
I'm gonna guess 4-5 business days...hopefully by next thurs. should arrive.

My experience would suggest that 4-5 days would be a poor guess. It will probably be closer to 14 days coming from DD.

DD claims that the item ships not to long after the order is placed. But judging by transit time, I think the ship notification is bogus.

suffolk112000 06-20-08, 01:07 PM Yes.
Amazon's free shipping is hideous at best when talking about how long it takes to ship after it is ordered.
I always order from J&R and Warner Home Video.
I swear some times that Amazon PURPOSLY holds items back if you don't pay for the premium shipping just to encourage consumers to pay the extra premium shipping fee.
b_scott 06-20-08, 01:15 PM Amazon's free shipping is a "room on the truck" type shipping. when there is a truck not fully loaded with paid shipping, they will ship your free stuff. that's why it's free. again, if you want it quick, pay for shipping.

I have had nothing but amazing experiences with Amazon's free shipping. I got my Onkyo 805 (61lbs.!!!) in less than 48 hours with free shipping. As a matter of fact, I prefer to buy from Amazon than from a merchant because it ALWAYS comes faster when it's from Amazon. It's so fast, I would never even consider paying for it. My few experiences with Warner and J&R have been much worse than Amazon's free shipping.
I think your location in relation to the warehouse location plays a factor. I am located in Northern New Jersey, and the stuff always ships from Jersey City.

Not true for me, I ordered from them last week, and received it in two days, record time. Maybe because they want to treat the NY customers nice since they now have to pay NY State Sales tax. :(

I couldn't disagree more. I have ordered countless items from Amazon using their free shipping. Almost all have come within 4 days or less. On the other hand, I have found WHV and DD to take at least two weeks. I will agree with you in regards to J&R, however. I usually receive products from them in about a week.
mrtwstr 06-20-08, 02:26 PM Shoot, just get Amazon Prime. If you order as much as I do from them, that free 2 day shipping (which is almost always 1 day) is a steal. Plus if you order something that's limited stock, they often seem to move you to the front of the line above those without Prime ;)
asmith96 06-20-08, 02:32 PM Amazon Prime is the way to go...I have ordered from every vendor mentioned on this site and Amazon blows all of them away on shipping AND customer support.

sonyfangirl 06-20-08, 02:39 PM Shagman - Thank you for agreeing to maintain this most useful thread.
I would ask that the users of this thread please keep the content related to the title. It seems most of the posts are about shipping. I certainly understand how that is relevant since if you purchase something online at a great price, it is all for nothing if you do not get it. But perhaps you can create another thread to discuss shipping issues.
I'd much rather read through 100 posts of Movie X is $XX.XX at a certain store or website, than people discussing shipping issues.
I don't mean to complain or be rude, just reminding people what this thread is about.
Thanks, and good luck deal-hunting!
asmith96 06-20-08, 03:01 PM Sorry fan girl...but shipping cost, and time for that matter, is almost as important as the price of the media. The bottom line is the key here.
If someone, for example, says Tower has xx blu ray for $10, but fails to mention the $10 shipping...it misses the entire point of the thread.
If shipping wasn't talked about or included in the discussion, then there would be 3x the replies asking about that very thing and complaining why the poster didn't include it.
I agree we can get off on tangents sometimes, but I see it as a small price to pay to make sure everyone has ALL the information before making a buying decision.
Just my 2 cents...

I think your comments are right on the mark. The first 8-9 posts of this page alone illustrate your point.
RAVEN56706 06-20-08, 03:29 PM Amazon prime is faster then anything... everything for me comes next day even though i pick 2 day
BoBoish 06-20-08, 03:36 PM For those willing and able to take advantage of the $10 coupon by checking out through Google Checkout via Buy.com for items fulfilled by Deep Discount, another good deal to consider (aside from the aforementioned Rambo boxset) is Cloverfield. With the coupon, I just ordered it for $8.26 shipped. I think you can basically apply the $10 to anything, so that makes any Blu-Ray a pretty solid deal.
I had vowed never to buy from buy.com again, but since they're basically the middleman for a company I do regularly order from (Deep Discount), I couldn't pass up this deal.
ShagMan 06-20-08, 04:09 PM Amazon's Prime is a must-have for me, since I order more than just movies... but just in HD movies, I've spend about $8k over the past three years, so the free 2nd day is a no-brainer for me with that much volume.
Having said that, with WHV's 30% off plus their near-Amazon regular pricing, I have moved all my WHV pre-ordres over to their site, and just do large orders to get the free shipping.
keebler87 06-20-08, 06:14 PM I know you used google checkout but, if you are a returning customer how can you use google checkout again? Can you please explain to me the trick?
You don't need a new CC number, just a new email address. Problem solved. I can vouch for this method because I just picked up Cloverfield for $8.26 :D Thanks BoBoish! As mentioned before, you supposedly only have till the end of the month to exploit this. However, GCO was said to expire before and it came back.

I don't mind the discussion of shipping costs but the lengthy posts complaining about shipping times are hardly relevant to the thread IMHO.

Thank you Sonyfangirl for speaking up. I believe ongoing discussions of shipping times is what you were suggesting needed minimizing, and not cost since shipping cost is obviously a part of the bottom line. Not to add more posts (defeating the purpose), but it needed to be emphasized.
Anyway the this request can be added to the opening thread, shagman?

before you go, go to it through the windows search live cashback page at

you'll get an additional 4% back in rebates from microsoft.
I bought the Rambo trilogy on Blu-Ray
Normal price: $34.85
with 20% off: $27.88
with an extra 4% off: $26.49
shipping is free
Not too shabby for 3 movies in hi-def, eh?
The only drawback is deepdiscount takes FOREVER to get your order to you. I'm not kidding, it'll take like a month to get to me. They send 3rd class or something.
edit- rambo trilogy is 27.88 at buy.com. you can get $10 off with google checkout (only once) but you have to spend more than $60 and im not sure how much shipping is.

Greetings,
FYI
Just picked up Narnia Blu-Ray at Costco (NY) for $15.99. It is part of an instant rebate of $10.00 on either Narnia or National Treasure (first one). Narnia didn't ring up as $15.99 but the sign said "National Treasure Assortment $15.99. The number on the sign was 287535 and both Naria and National treasure had the same number just above the price on the sticker. They of course, had to look it up and the sign was correct. Make sure the cashier is aware because it first rang up at $25.99. I had to go to a "roving manager" to verify and get the price adjusted.
P.S. I didn't notice when the sale ended.
Regards,
Dom

Now I'm really starting to get annoyed with these sales. Ooh, maybe I'll pick up Total Recall and The Punisher for $30...oh wait, without the "sale" they would come to $23.90. Seriously, a good portion are $15 or less and the others are marked up from $15. And I am so sick of seeing the same crap in every single sale!!!

msgohan 06-22-08, 08:21 AM Looks like Tower.com raised the price of Blade Runner and 300 from $12 to $17 but still say they're "On Sale". Luckily I had them in my cart at the old price and the order seems to have gone through okay, along with The Fifth Element also at $12.
Is $15 for Memento the best deal around? I thought Tower had it for 12 the other day but maybe I was imagining things, it's also at $17 there now.

^ To be fair, four of the discs aren't $34.99. :D
msam137 06-22-08, 04:36 PM I felt the same way but maybe somebody has gift cards are reward zone certificates to waste. Is it me or did they raise the MSRP price to 39.99 so stores can call 34.99 a sale. I've noticed that at best buy and other sites where they compare their price to the MSRP.

I believe Disney has been the only studio to do that promotion. I know titles like Con Air, The Rock, Crimson Tide, and some others have that rebate program. Be warned though that some copies of the movie don't have the rebate form inside so you have to call Disney to send you a rebate form.

I was going to as this yesterday. If I make it to Target today I'll post what I see.
I already have Batman Begins pre-ordered. It started at $19.99 about 3 months ago, now it's at $18.95, will be checking to make sure I get the $17.95.
b_scott 06-23-08, 10:45 AM how do Amazon pre-orders work? I did the same as ThePrisoner @ amazon. do they keep dropping the price and keeping the lowest one for when they finally ship it? mine's still at $18.95
RDarrylR 06-23-08, 10:47 AM Sometimes it takes up to a day but I have found that they usually just get lowered automatically. I cancelled and re-ordered on a few items in the past when I was tired of waiting for them to automatically lower them.

Calling them right now. Do you know if it will work along with the B2G1?
With a discount I got on them yesterday it would average to about $18.** for me to get I Robot, Man on Fire and Terminator. This isn't a great deal but cheaper than what we've seen on the other two correct? Or have I missed a place that I can get them cheaper at???

The coupons sent out were sporadic. Hopefully a CSR will help you. I got a 10$ off any purchase 10$ or more. Some got 10$ off 50$. Some got 20$ off 50$ and a few even reported 20$ off 20$. Of course, a lot of people didn't get squat, either.
If you get somewhere with them, I'm sure some RZ members here would appreciate hearing back if they could also call if they received nothing.
BTW, "DEALCATCHER" is still giving 20% off at DeepDiscount today. I'm not sure if the others are, but it might be worth a shot if you missed out on anything. It would be even better if it worked tomorrow, since some 24/June releases would be available for the discount (like 22.26$ for 10,000 BC).

Or they just don't use Amazon pre-ordering enough to know it's automatic.

Drag'nGT 06-23-08, 02:23 PM The coupons sent out were sporadic. Hopefully a CSR will help you. I got a 10$ off any purchase 10$ or more. Some got 10$ off 50$. Some got 20$ off 50$ and a few even reported 20$ off 20$. Of course, a lot of people didn't get squat, either.

I got a rep that 'doesn't quite understand' what I asked her. She kept insisting I had to reach the 250 points mark. I explained that's not what I was after then she told me to wait 2-3 days and see if I see the coupon then. I then asked if she can just give me the coupon and she didn't know.
Short version: Can someone scan the thing in here?
The DeepDiscount -20% doesn't get it to as cheap as I can get it from BB even without the extra coupon.

Yes I agree, holy crap... that is awefully expensive for a catalog title ;)
Drag'nGT 06-23-08, 02:39 PM UPDATE! Got back from the grocery store and decided to call again. The rep informed me that those were sent out randomly and that I wasn't chosen this time but what she would do is give me an extra 750 points ($15) that should be printable by this weekend since it takes a few days for them to generate to my account so I can print them.
:D :D :D :D Who says BB isn't customer friendly!!!!! I'm happy!!! :D
YMMV I can't stress that enough because I think she was just in a giving mood to help me.

thebends22 06-23-08, 03:39 PM Donnie Brasco has a fantastic transfer, and a good movie to boot. It received 4.5 out of 5 stars for picture quality from High Def Digest, and I tend to agree with that score.
Might as well sell my dvd version on ebay and get the bluray version.
High Def Digest isnt too bad, check out dvdfile.com. They have giveaways once in a while and the main editorials arent bad either. For reviews, I dont think dvdtown.com can be beat. For a more technical aspect on what you are buying, you are correct with digest though .
reward zone members should have gotten a coupon in the mail for $10 off a $50 purchase valid 6/22-6/28. its got the typically long list of "exclusions" but movies are ok.
KO
Weird, mine does not have any "exclusions" nor do I need to spend $50.
The warner code listed no longer applies to certain titles, like the ocean's trilogy for example.

Not to get too OT, but I have become increasingly jaded by digest's audio ratings. It seems all they care about is whether or not the surrounds and sub are used to the fullest extent. But this is not the mark of a well mixed sound track. For some films and moments, it shouldn't stand out and take your attention. It's another tool in telling the story and setting the mood, and I think sometimes that they miss that.
I also have issues with their video ratings, too, but for different reasons. They don't seem to notice or mention titles heavily saturated with DNR and EE. I think reviewers should pay attention to and beef about this more to hopefully encourage studios to stop doing this. It's overly common in the U.S., not so much in other countries. As if all we desire is plasticized smoothed out high def pictures. I'd much rather get something identical to the studio master in accuracy. With high definition, DNR and EE are completely unnecessary, and reviewers don't hound on this enough.
Jason Pastore 06-23-08, 05:25 PM Does anyone have a list of the titles eligible for the best buy 2 blu ray discs for $25 offer? The link just takes me to a page with a description of the offer. Bonnie & Clyde, Natural Born Killers, Dirty Harry...I think their called Digibook releases.

hmmm
Since no one else has mentioned it yet, Target and Best Buy have half decent sales this week. Target has The Recruit, Signs, MIB, V for Vendetta, and Natural Born Killers in their ad for $19.99, and says more are that price in store.
Best Buy has Be Kind Rewind, The Bucket List, Fool's Gold and a few others for $24.99. Plus, if you're a Reward Zone member, you should have gotten a $10 dollar coupon in the mail and it's double points all this week.

yep, 12 days. Ordered 6-11 in the morning and delivered 6-23 in the late afternoon.
I will say this after studying the USPS tracking. Tower took 8 days to ship the "in stock" movies and the titles shipped from Miami. USPS showed the package at my local post office on Friday evening and my local postman boned me and waited until Monday to deliver. So if he did his job, it would have taken 10 days.

Don't you hate when they do that to you. That's heppened to me several times. The last time just about two weeks ago. I was standing in my kitchen when I saw the mailman in his truck at the end of my driveway. I'm expecting him to bring my package up, or leave it in the mailbox if it fits. Next thing I know he's gone and there's a slip in the mailbox about how I wasn't there to get my package. ********! Then I sign the slip so he can deliver it the next day, and then he doesn't deliver it for 2 more days.

Go back few pages.;)
Does Tower.com price match recently purchased items? So of the way Amazon does it. If you buy something at Amazon and the price goes down within a month they will refund the difference.
lgans316 06-25-08, 04:49 AM Nope. They don't.:(

That would be the cherry on top ;)
No they don't do that but there prices on the discounted BR discs have been constantly cheaper than Amazon. :D

Your wife will hate you spending $34 on movies? WTF? Looking at the pics of your basement, you are not hurting for cash

Yeah, she watches every red cent..... That and I've bought 10 HD DVD's with all the deals going on there too....
that was finished almost 2 years ago before we started having children......or in other words, dual income no kids... Now it's one income, one child and possibly another on the way....(too early to tell yet). Anyway, you get the idea, but thanks for the compliment on the basement (I think :) )
mt-parker 06-25-08, 10:45 AM I ordered MIB, Cloverfield, and the Punisher for $40 bucks I cant complain, I just got my notification that MIB has shipped, I wonder if it will have the Hancock free movie code with it?
Lookilook 06-25-08, 02:55 PM MIB, I'm Legend...ordered. Still waiting for Rambo Tri to arrive.
bases1616 06-25-08, 02:57 PM All the MIB copies should have the yellow sticker on the box with the code behind it. It leaves a nice sticky residue behind so I just threw the outer box away. I do not see the point of putting a movie in a plastic case and then adding it into another outer case unless it is a box set.
b_scott 06-25-08, 03:01 PM it's for marketing. they do that all the time in stores, a lot of times it's to make a movie's cover "pop" more, or in the case of target to make it seem like a new version of the movie.

the special edition juno dvd with digital copy has a cardboard sleeve, i believe. best buy is selling it for about $10 more the standard dvd which doesn't have the cardboard sleeve. best buy made about a billion dollars last year -- i bet their customers tend to pick up the ones with the cardboard sleeves which are sold at a higher mark-up.

The cardboard sleeve lets them easily print with metallic paints or varnish to get the customers to go "Ooooooh, shiny!"
Smarty-pants 06-25-08, 03:48 PM It's shiny? I'm buyin it!
pghflyer 06-25-08, 05:44 PM I got my MIB from DVDPlanet today and it did come with the MovieCash even though it wasn't advertised as such.
That and the Blu-Ray promo sticker were horribly gooey like cement when peeled off. However, a few sprays from the De-Solv It / Goo-be gone (basically lemon juice, about $2.00 for a bottle) and the goo is easily wiped right off........and your shiny is like brand new again!! :)

How long did your order take in shipping? Tomorrow will be the 14th day since they shipped my MIB - I've never had a package take so long.
Well, I picked up Rambo, M&CTFSOTW and Signs at Fry's yesterday, but kind of chafed at the pricing and gentle anal probe you receive when leaving. I went to tower.com, picked those up, plus MIB, and still saved $7. So, back these will go to Fry's...

pghflyer 06-25-08, 07:17 PM Ordered 06/17, shipped 06/18, delivered 06/25. I am happy for free shipping.
skippyrulz 06-25-08, 09:01 PM just an fyi, since the first post says this expires 6/24... the warner code ANWBTS is still active.
sammysan 06-25-08, 09:45 PM Ordered Cloverfield and 300 on BD (Had it on HD DVD and sold it) from Tower.com on 6/24, shipped today 6/25. Not too bad IMO.

Deal - Save an Additional $5 on New DVD and Blu-ray Releases (six titles)
The $5 bucks is included in the list price, other than "I AM Legand" its really not that great at all.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.htm...cId=1000243511
Deal - 2 for $30 - 39 titles
No longer works.
All so for us international buyers i would not recommend Amazon as they charge nearly double for shipping 'vs' the competition.

Put it this way, its not worth more than $20 ;)
DevilDog151 06-26-08, 02:45 AM Put it this way, its not worth more than $20 ;)
The idea was cool. The acting sucked. I'd pick it up with something else on a two for thirty thats it.
lgans316 06-26-08, 02:55 AM $20 is a bumper deal for Jumper

Glad to hear it, 30% off rocks!
jeffrey r 06-26-08, 09:04 AM Tower's prices seem to have gone up about a buck apiece. Glad I got my order in yesterday.
DM2006RI 06-26-08, 09:10 AM Glad to hear it, 30% off rocks!
Except they raised the price of every $19.99 disc to $22.99 a couple of weeks ago. :(
Except they raised the price of every $19.99 disc to $22.99 a couple of weeks ago. :(
true, but with the 30% off that translates into only a $2 increase. i was going to get blue planet (imax) and/or letters from iwo jima as a 2nd and/or 3rd disc for $14 and/or $16 after discount. now it looks like it will be $16 and/or $18 (meaning it is probably going to be an or and not an and -- and i will likely get BP instead of LFIJ).
i appreciate someone posting the 30% was still active. i put dirty harry ultimate collection in my cart yesterday, and the code didn't work (so i assumed it was expired). i forgot, though, that the code only works if you are purchasing two discs. code is still working this morning.
Pushing Daisies does not seem to be available for pre-order on Blu-Ray anymore at the Warner website. I had an order canceled due to some credit card confusion, and now it's not there. That sucks.
Nexus 6 06-26-08, 02:58 PM Is Jumper worth the $20?
IMO? No. Its worth a rental though.
