Remember we love those pictures:) Art Sonneborn 06-18-08, 12:33 PM at infocom right now christie show the new 3chip dlp . its a very small 3 chip with 1920x1080 with 5000 or 10000 lumen. just 25kg. the best it have a adaptive iris in the light engine that have manual adjustements like max open or max close and in between or you can select adaptive.:):):) max open will give you 2500:1 to may 3000:1 and adaptiv bigger 10000:1 cr. my guess max. close you will find arround 6000:1. they use dc4 chips! they have a dual lamp (uhp) design. the big one have two 350w uhp lamps inside so the unit is very flexible. it have also a notch filter that you can switch on and off. so with the big 10000 lumen one you can go from good 1000 lumen to 10000 lumen by dimm the lamp use one or 2 lamps and use the iris. sad that they not use a xenon lamp. i am sure we can read soon a press release. Are you there Wolfgang ? With 5000 to 10,000 lumens it would seem like the adaptive iris could go higher on the on off. Still it sounds like a nice flexible device. Art Ash Sharma 06-18-08, 12:48 PM Wolfgang, This looks like a great projector.. How noisy is the projector? Is it targeted to Home Cinema? Ash donaldk 06-18-08, 12:53 PM Wolfgang you beat me to it. Compiling some interesting releases for the infocomm thread alan launched at the other subforum. donaldk 06-18-08, 12:54 PM Christie: CHRISTIE UNVEILS NEW LINE OF 3-CHIP DLP® PROJECTORS Sets New Performance Standards in the Industry Las Vegas/INFOCOMM 2008 – (June 18, 2008) – Christie is raising the bar on standard features and performance with a diverse new line of projection products that sets a new benchmark for reliability, versatility and low cost of ownership in the high-end Pro AV projector class. This technology demo delivers a superior 1080p picture for which DLP technology is known, while eliminating maintenance costs such as lamp replacements and filter changes required by some competing projector products. Multiple DLP customers have plans to develop DLP lamp-free LED-based projectors, including Optoma, with units expected to ship in late 2008. Similar to the deployment of DLP Product’s now popular BrilliantColor technology, the solid-state, lamp-free innovation will first be incorporated into home theater units and proliferate through corporate and education product lines thereafter. DLP also introduced the first 3-D front projector with Norwegian manufacturer, projectiondesign, and the brand new pico-projector stand-alone product with Optoma. The 3-D portable high-resolution active stereoscopic single-chip projector is designed for the demanding visualization, simulation and entertainment environments in applications that have not been able to achieve this level of performance in the past, while the pico product uses a pioneering DLP Pico™ chipset for mobile applications. Benefits of Lamp-free Due to the inherent switching speed of the DLP chip and advancements in LEDs from Luminus, a leader in LED manufacturing, consumers will benefit from the increased picture quality, reliability and value found in this new projector category. The reflective nature of the mirrors on the DLP chip allow more light to reach the screen resulting in a 50% increase in color gamut range producing more than 200 trillion colors and a contrast ratio in excess of 500,000:1. The proprietary combination of LED illumination, coupled with DLP technology elevates picture quality to a new level while eliminating the traditional projection lamp. In addition to the expanded color and contrast performance, the illumination system has an incredibly long life and offers up to 30% lower power usage and, most significantly, hundreds of dollars in savings from lamp purchases. Due to the sealed DLP optics, DLP projectors are inherently prepared to withstand dusty environments and unlike projectors based on other technologies; do not require a filter to protect the optics. Most DLP projectors are filter-free. This important value attribute will remain true with new lamp-free DLP projectors, eliminating potential costly filter cleaning and replacements required by other technologies. DLP is leveraging strengths from its other leading product lines for the new lamp-free projectors. Since 2006, lamp-free DLP HDTVs with LED-based illumination systems have been available from Samsung. To date, nearly 150,000 of these units have shipped. DLP Products is featuring other market leading innovations at InfoComm booth #C909, Central Hall, including: World’s first DLP 3-D Front Projector Product The F10 AS3D is designed for the demanding scientific visualisation, simulation and entertainment environments. A full 120 Hz refresh rate enables flicker-free 3-D image. The F10 AS3D features a resolution of 1,400 x 1,050 pixels, and it is fully compatible with 1080p inputs. Texas Instruments DLP® Products Praised by the Industry for Superior Reliability Lower cost of ownership for projectors powered by DLP® Las Vegas – June 18, 2008: Texas Instruments (TI) (NYSE: TXN) and its international customer base today at InfoComm 2008 celebrate the superior reliability of products built upon the DLP chip. The benefits to DLP consumers are inherent in the innovation of its chip technology that cannot be replicated by competitors. A recent test conducted by independent testing organization Intertek on data projectors supports the advantages of DLP technology in front projection. The findings revealed that all LCD projectors tested, including Epson’s newest Dream Seven panel projectors, showed image “burn-in” when a corporate logo was displayed in the same place in a series of presentation materials in a typical business usage scenario. The testing showed that text and images can leave a ghosting or “burn-in” effect following as little as two hours of on-time operation. The effect may take time to dissipate. The recent testing confirms DLP’s position as an industry market leader in projector reliability. Coupled with the many filter-free DLP models available, total cost of ownership for DLP projectors is often dramatically lower than other projector technologies. “While technology should enhance learning in schools, ongoing maintenance and related lost user productivity pose hidden costs to reaching those goals,” said Rich Kaestner, Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) TCO/VOI Project Director. “Education administrators require the lowest total cost of ownership, reviewing ongoing lifecycle costs when looking at projectors.” The DLP front projection chipset is based on the same technology that powers the largest and brightest projectors found in movie theatres and large venues worldwide as well as the tiny Pico-projector made for mobile applications. “Our customers expect a chip that will perform at the same level for the life of the unit, and DLP is proving to be the only option that meets these end user demands,” said Lars Yoder, vice president and business manager, TI’s DLP Front Projection Business Unit. “The stability of the DLP chip has helped multiple manufacturers to increase sales, elevate their brand and become leaders in the space.” The DLP chip has been praised by the industry for its bullet-proof reliability. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) recently gave TI’s DLP chip – the DMD –the Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark award. The designation indicates a significant step forward in the evolution of mechanical engineering and is the best-known example of its kind. The unwavering performance and reliability of the microscopic array of digital micromirrors that are individually controlled was the key source of praise from ASME. This new projector replaces Mitsubishi’s wildly successful HC4900, upgrading features for the same manufacturer’s suggested price of $2495. “Our new HC5500 is very similar to our HC6000, but we’re targeting it to the same price point as our old HC4900,” said Wayne Kozuki, product manager, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America’s Presentation Products Division. Mitsubishi’s HC5500 is designed with inorganic LCD panels that are more durable and that provide a more consistent, evenly toned color image than previous generation LCD panels. With a newly developed LCD panel cooling duct, the HC5500 is designed to be one of the quietest projectors in the world at 19 dBa, so you can focus on the movie instead of a distracting hum of the fan. With the HC5500 Mitsubishi has also included an improved automatic iris function for quicker black-to-light image shift and has increased the contrast ratio to 10,000:1. This combination allows for dynamic, smooth transitions between light and dark and sharper overall details in dark areas, even in fast-action spaceship scenes or classic film noir. Most importantly, Mitsubishi incorporates the Emmy® award-winning HQV (Hollywood Quality Video) high-performance video processor inside this entry level 1080p projector. The HC5500 comes with the Reon-VX video processing chip often found in more expensive high-end devices and offers advanced noise reduction and reduced chroma up-sampling for superior video performance. Reon-VX’s HQV processing delivers sharp, detailed HD images by using features such as true 1080i-to-1080p HD deinterlacing and a sophisticated multidirectional diagonal filter that helps ensure video is free from jagged edges. HQV also makes standard definition material approach HD quality by employing advanced scaling, per-pixel detail enhancement and noise reduction technology to remove noise and artifacts caused by compression. The projector’s 3LCD technology delivers unbelievable color, amazing detail and road-tested reliability. Using an advanced three-panel design, Mitsubishi’s HC5500 produces both rich and vibrant colors with extraordinary details for outstanding picture quality. With up to 5000 hours of lamp-life (in low mode), HC5500 owners won’t have to change lamps often, but when it’s necessary the new projector design makes replacement quick and easy. Users simply switch lamps through an easily accessed lamp housing without taking the mounting structure apart or physically handling the projector. “Mitsubishi continues to lead the market with advanced features and functions at unprecedented price points,” said James Chan, director, product marketing, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America’s Presentation Products Division. “We’re excited to offer so many advanced features for a suggested price under $2500.” Pricing, Availability and Warranty The suggested retail price of Mitsubishi’s new HC5500 is $2,495 and will be available in June through authorized Mitsubishi dealers and select online resellers. The projector comes with Mitsubishi’s two-year limited warranty on parts and labor plus a one-year limited warranty on the lamp. At 1700 lumens, the HC1600 is brighter than its best-selling award-winning predecessor, fits more viewing environments and at a suggested retail price of only $999, it fits smaller budgets as well. Mitsubishi’s HC1600 makes a dynamic large screen HD home theater experience truly affordable, allowing more people to step up from fixed-size televisions to portable, flexible home entertainment in high definition. “We continue to lead in home theater projection, especially in terms of a value proposition,” said Wayne Kozuki, product marketing manager, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America’s Presentation Products Division. “It’s always exciting to bring such high-end entertainment experiences to a level where almost everybody can easily enjoy them at home or on the road.” Using Texas Instruments’ latest DLP® chip, the DDP3020 Digital Light Processing® TrueVision™ Image processing with BrilliantColor™, Mitsubishi’s HC1600 HD projector blasts a bright 1700 lumens and provides an outstanding 2500:1 contrast ratio for high action and detailed video impact, even with the lights on. The combination provides advanced capabilities that greatly enhance white segment processing and secondary color boost to improve mid-tone brightness. BrilliantColor processing technology uses a patented color-processing algorithm and system-level enhancements for more brightness and truer lifelike colors. As a result, the HC1600 treats viewers to rich and vivid 720p high-definition images. Mitsubishi’s HC1600 is affordable from the point of purchase and offers an exceptionally low cost of ownership with an estimated 3000-hour lamp life in low lamp-life conservation mode. It’s also designed with an advanced filter-free construction that makes the projector’s optics resistant to dust, dirt and other micro particles within the its light path. Because there’s no filter, periodic maintenance is greatly reduced, making the projector more economical over time, and allowing users more time to enjoy their home theater. Furthermore, the tedious task of cleaning and replacing a filter is eliminated, saving both time and money. Subdued scenes are easy to hear with the HC1600’s quiet 25-decibel level engine, and its HDMI™ and DVI™ inputs offer true high-definition connectivity. Digital keystone correction makes set-up easy, efficient and more flexible in different room configurations. “Mitsubishi is committed to increasing value in our home theater and presentation projectors,” said James Chan, director, product marketing, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America’s Presentation Products Division. “We offer a wide selection designed to meet home theater newbies as well as enthusiasts who want the best that their budget can afford, with no compromise.” Pricing, Availability, Warranty The suggested retail price of Mitsubishi’s HC1600 is $999; the projector will be available in August 2008 through popular online resellers, selected retail outlets and authorized Mitsubishi dealers. The projector comes with Mitsubishi’s one-year limited warranty on parts and labor plus a one-year limited warranty on the lamp. Mitsubishi’s Resolia monitor is designed for indoor signage applications such as billboard advertising or informational displays in malls, airports, sports arenas, casinos, entertainment stages and other public venues. “We’ve received a great response to our Resolia LED big-screen, and we’re excited to show it to our InfoComm audience,” said James Chan, director of marketing, Mitsubishi’s Presentation Products Division. “Systems integrators will see its new plug and play design makes installation easier and more efficient than custom-sized LED screens that can cost up to three times more and are quite service intensive.” Unlike similar screens which are tediously custom-built in-house, deconstructed for shipping and reconstructed tile-by-tile, module-by-module on site, Resolia is the only 140” LED screen with a pre-packaged design that is quick to install and simple to set-up. It is shipped in one piece but can also be broken down into a two-piece configuration for easier transport in tight spaces. The plug-and-play design eliminates complicated integration and maintenance which saves time and money. For its size, it also has some of the most versatile mounting options available; its thin body with front and bottom hardware allows the panel to be installed flat or inclined from walls, or even hung from the ceiling. Resolia also boasts larger viewing angles: 150 degrees horizontal and 120 degrees vertical, so more people above, below or to the side can read images clearly and easily. Mitsubishi’s Resolia accepts an array of input computer or video signals including HD-SDI for up to 1080p high-definition imaging or SD-SDI for standard imaging signals. It comes with a controller that can accept and display one video or one computer-generated screen display, or customers have the option of a digital screen controller that allows up to four input sources. A sophisticated and easy graphic user interface (GUI) comes with the upgraded controller that lets users simply configure source content for a shared display of up to four simultaneous images, side-by-side images, or picture-in-picture style. Resolia’s advanced pixels are a 3-in-1 design: Each pixel can turn red, blue, green or white individually, and the pixel pitch is a tight 4.0mm. This combination allows for brighter, more vivid colors, and sharper images overall. A fan-less design minimizes noise and intake of dust from outside air to further improve its level of technical sophistication as a commercial display. Since developing the world’s first 14-inch color TFT LCD TV in 1988, Sharp has consistently led the industry with larger screen sizes, introducing the first 45-inch class model in 2004 and the first 65-inch class (64-17/32” Diagonal) model. In addition to leading the movement toward larger screen sizes, Sharp has met the demand for superior image quality by achieving such “firsts” as a resolution that is four times higher than that of current HD (4096 x 2160), the world’s highest contrast ratio (1,000,000:1) and the ultimate in fast-motion image processing with 120 Hz frame rate conversion and an incredible pixel response time of 4ms. Sharp is working to further the evolution of LCD technology based on the success of developing the LB-1085, and will continue, as a leading manufacturer of LCD TVs and Monitors, to develop state-of-the-art products. The Sharp® LCD Monitor line is designed for a variety of professional settings, with models ideal for both landscape and portrait modes, and industry-leading specs that maintain Sharp’s strong position in the LCD industry. “Large screen-display customers are experiencing lower operational costs, increased efficiencies and improved business communication with Sharp LCD Monitor applications in all types of business environments,” said Dan Wynne, senior director of marketing, Professional Display Division, Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America. “The superior image quality and strong reliability of Sharp LCD Monitors lend themselves to numerous presentation opportunities and vertical business categories including medical, digital signage, display exhibition, education and many others.” At InfoComm, Sharp is highlighting the success and improved workflow that customers have experienced from Sharp Professional LCD Monitor applications across different industry sectors. Full case studies are available upon request. Some examples include: Medical Large LCD displays help in delicate brain surgery IMRIS, a leading manufacturer of surgical imaging solutions, teamed with Sharp Professional LCD Displays to help with delicate brain surgery in the operating rooms at Children's Hospital of Atlanta, where moveable MRI machines are revolutionizing the way surgery is performed. Using a technology from IMRIS, MRI images of the brain can appear within moments on a trio of Sharp 65-inch LCD monitors on the wall of the operating room. This allows the surgical team to zoom in on the images while the patient is in the operating room, display several different views, even quad split them if necessary, to determine if any of the tumor remains. MRI images of the brain used to be done prior to surgery to pinpoint a tumor’s location and then post-surgery to determine if any of the tumor remained. If so, the patient often went back for surgery a second time. This new technology from IMRIS allows the surgeon to view the images during the first surgery, saving money and easing patient suffering. Green patient room promises faster recovery, lower costs and environmental benefits Architect Michael Stack of Anshen+Allen found through research that a ‘greener’ patient room design can help people heal faster, increase staff efficiency, and improve a medical center’s ability to stay open and productive in the face of catastrophic events, such as the power plant failures that occurred in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Such a design using green materials and technologies can also make a difference in a hospital’s profitability, which of course is crucial if these institutions are to continue to provide high-level care. Stack took these concepts and designed a full-scale “green patient room” prototype that is touring industry trade shows and conventions. Among other innovations, the prototype includes a medical information center built around a 46-inch Sharp Professional LCD display, allowing Anshen+Allen’s green patient room to eliminate traditional medical charts and replace them with a networked computer tied to the 46-inch Sharp display on the wall behind the bed. The room also includes an alcove with a sleeper sofa and work area for family members, minimizes noise and machinery, and even has an open air terrace. Digital Signage Advertising startup explores alternate delivery vehicle In an era where DVRs and plain old channel surfing encourage viewers to avoid commercial messages, the OnSite Network has found a way to increase advertising viewership by specific market segments. The key has been to take advantage of group viewing dynamics in sports bars, restaurants and other out-of-home venues by adding content and advertising to broadcast TV feeds. Using a Sharp flat-panel LCD display, OnSite puts a 7-inch wide strip on the right side of the broadcast image for additional content and a 5-inch tall strip along the bottom for advertising. A key insight behind the concept is that viewers will read, and in a social setting talk about, written material added to a TV image without losing track of the main program. That’s what drives the game-time statistics displayed on ESPN and upcoming stories at the bottom of a CNN screen. Through this application, OnSite is measurably building viewership and the amount of time a bar or restaurant patron will spend watching television. Museum Exhibition High-definition exhibition brings tigers to life Wildlife photographer and filmmaker Carol Amore is using Sharp’s Professional LCD Monitors to bring her work to life. Her traveling exhibition preserves the high-definition clarity of the images she has filmed and captured with such success that the exhibition immerses the visitor, allowing them to see the wildlife images in true, realistic form. Amore started her quest in India in 1999 and has followed five tigers in their natural setting. She recorded these events in the wild, often from the top of an elephant, and is bringing them to life at the newly-opened exhibition at the Santa Ana Discovery Science Center. The exhibition features interactive activities and beautiful, realistic imagery displayed on Sharp LCD monitors. The concept of high-definition video is gaining high acceptance in museum exhibits because of visitor demand, since they often have HD televisions and home theaters themselves. Sharp LCD monitors incorporate several proprietary technologies and features that ensure unparalleled image quality for a professional presentation of information and images. The monitors have anti-glare and low-reflection properties, enabling them to be placed in bright areas where other screens might appear washed out. Higher contrast lets viewers discern details they might otherwise miss, particularly when viewing darker content. 176-degree viewing angles help the monitors display a crisp picture that can be seen from virtually anywhere in the room. A Black TFT/Bright Pixel Elimination feature ensures that if a failed pixel occurs, it is effectively invisible to the viewer. Remember those funny Italian CRT projectors, from the mid-eighties, with a fourth tube, well here's Sanyo with its latest, a 4LCD projector: SANYO Fisher Company www.sanyoprojectors.com News Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SANYO LAUNCHES NEW 4LCD TECHNOLOGY IMPROVING BRIGHTNESS AND COLOR ACCURACY - 4LCD, SANYO's latest optical engine, adds a proprietary ‘Color Control Device’ to the existing red, green and blue panels found in 3LCD projectors - The portable PLC-XP200L, the first 4LCD projector, delivers an impressive 7000 lumens with 2200:1 contrast ratio - Active Maintenance Filter (AMF) virtually eliminates filter cleaning as part of projector maintenance CHATSWORTH, CA and INFOCOMM, LAS VEGAS, NV. -- June 17, 2008 -- SANYO, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of LCD and DLP projectors introduces their latest optical engine, called 4LCD, which adds a Color Control Device to conventional 3LCD (red/green/blue) systems. The first projector to launch this innovative new 4LCD engine is the PLC-XP200L. The additional Color Control Device in the 4LCD optical engine allows the PLC-XP200L to automatically control the amount of yellow light in the image, producing higher luminosity with improved color accuracy and clarity. The demand for even brighter projectors continues to come from the field as systems integrators are asked to install video displays in extremely large venues such as convention halls, conference rooms, auditoriums and houses of worship. However, as brightness levels increase on 3LCD projectors, there is a reverse effect in color reproduction. Colors become noticeably washed out, lacking vibrancy and realism. SANYO's innovative solution overcomes the limitations of 3LCD technology, opening the way for new projectors capable of extremely high luminosity without the trade off in color accuracy. The PLC-XP200L, the first projector to benefit from this new technology, is rated at an amazing 7000 lumens. Coupled with the impressive high contrast ratio of 2200:1, the PLC-XP200L is capable of generating clearer, richer and more beautiful images than was ever possible with high brightness 3LCD projectors. SANYO developed a new high-speed image compensating LSI for the 4LCD engine. The combination of the 4LCD engine and the new LSI allows for up to 20% more color space than our conventional projectors. With the controlled yellow light, SANYO’s Advanced Color Correction technology separates each color histogram for unparalleled color processing and correction, resulting in beautiful and naturally rich colors. Additionally, the PLC-XP200L is equipped with a high-output, single lamp that is designed for exceptional light efficiency. Aside from generating sharper and brighter displays in large halls and meeting rooms, the 4LCD design is well suited for digital signage and advertising in brightly lit environments. -moreSANYO LAUNCHES NEW 4LCD TECHNOLOGY, cont. pg. 2, 6/17/08 "This is just the first of many projectors we will release featuring our new 4LCD Engine. The increased luminosity and contrast ratio coupled with the dramatically improved color accuracy of this new design is going to revolutionize the capabilities of LCD projector solutions," says Mark Holt, Vice President and General Manager for SANYO’s Presentation Technologies Division. Minimal maintenance and repair was essential for the XP200L, so it was outfitted with SANYO’s exclusive Active Maintenance Filter (AMF). AMF is a single filter cartridge that contains ten lengths of filtering material plus an airflow sensor to detect when airflow is obstructed by dust. The AMF system automatically advances a clean section of filter when needed. When the last section of filter material becomes obstructed an on-screen graphic appears telling the user to change the cartridge. Each filter lasts approximately 10,000 hours with a cartridge lifecycle of about 2 years (calculation based on 14 hrs/day projector use). The filters are easy to replace due to the side loading access on the projector. To further increase reliability and performance, the PLC-XP200L uses SANYO's unique Durable Inorganic Optical System (DIOS). The SANYO PJ-NET ORGANIZER is available, allowing the PLC-XP200L to be connected to a wired network via Ethernet. Using the PJ-NET MASTER software all projector functions such as power status, lamp status, input mode, signal condition, lamp-use time, etc. can be monitored and controlled from a remote location. For quick and easy installation the XP200L is outfitted with a motor driven vertical and horizontal lens shift. Up/Down/Left/Right lens shift ensures image projection at any angle of up to 360-degrees, allowing ceiling or floor image projection. A special mechanical shutter is also placed behind the lens and activated by the remote control, allowing the presenter to close the lens and temporarily darken the screen. There is an abundance of digital/analog video input terminals including a DVI-D (digital and analog video), component video and D-Sub15. The input signal compatibility includes UXGA, SXGA+, SXGA, WXGA, XGA, SVGA, VGA, and MAC. It is also compatible with HD resolutions including 1080i 50/60, 1035i, 720p as well as standard definition (480p, 480i, 575p, 575i). Jun 17, 2008 08:08 TANDBERG and Barco Announce New High-Definition Tele-Collaboration Solution ¶ 1080p Ultra High-Definition Video Enables Enhanced Collaboration for Organizations Sharing Complex Data in Real Time NEW YORK & OSLO, Norway --(Business Wire)-- Jun. 17, 2008 TANDBERG(R) (OSLO:TAA.OL), a leading global provider of telepresence, high-definition (HD) video conferencing and mobile video solutions, and Barco (NYSE Euronext Brussels:BAR), a global leader in display and visualization solutions, today announced their first jointly developed product - a tele-collaboration solution with 1080p high-definition video. This large screen format enables organizations to visually collaborate and analyze complex sources of data in real-time. Organizations that scrutinize large amounts of rich data and collaborate in real-time among multiple locations, such as government, oil & gas and automotive sectors, will benefit from the integration of Barco's multi-windowing display systems with TANDBERG's high-definition video solutions. Distributed teams can see and react to the complete picture all at once. Remote expertise can immediately be brought in through a common interface from any standards-based video system for live analysis and discussion. "As decisions become more complex, they often involve input from a larger number of experts and data points," said Fredrik Halvorsen, TANDBERG CEO. "Together with Barco, TANDBERG is simplifying tele-collaboration for industries that rely on cooperation between multiple facilities to share and review complicated data. This collaboration-without-borders facilitates the ability to make smarter decisions faster." With this tele-collaboration solution, multiple desktop applications and productivity software such as SAP can be integrated with telepresence to deliver complete situational awareness. In addition, the flexibility to resize image windows that contain rich media content allows experts to focus on a particular scenario at any given point in a collaboration session. "As leaders in the visual technology industry, we believe Barco's Windows desktop integration can render decision-making and collaboration between remote teams more user-friendly," said Michel Vandeplas, President for Barco's Presentation and Simulation Division. "TANDBERG's ultra high-definition 1080p video allows teams to see remote colleagues in natural, life-like detail, and they will still have direct and easy access to the data they need to discuss." The new custom solution includes TANDBERG's C90 Telepresence Engine and high-definition cameras, integrated with Barco's user-friendly XDS Control Center software suite. This multi-windowing software runs on a variety of Barco platforms, including LCD panels, projectors and single- or multi-channel projection systems. The latest and most impressive among these is the XDC-3000, a single-projector ten megapixel display system that allows its users to visualize multiple sources simultaneously in their native resolution. This new tele-collaboration solution will be on display in both the TANDBERG and Barco booths at InfoComm, June 18-20 in Las Vegas. The solution is available in the third quarter 2008. The high resolution PT-DZ12000U WUXGA (1920 x 1200 pixels) and PT-D12000U SXGA (1400 x 1050 pixels) models are designed for large venue and rental and staging solutions such as, commercial digital cinema, higher education, corporate and digital advertising customers. Both the PT-DZ12000U and PT-D12000U include new, built-in edge blending and a geometric adjustment feature that enables both projectors to deliver dynamic warping capability and presentation solutions. Edge blending, used primarily for the rental and staging market, makes it possible to overlap multiple images to create a single larger image, thus enabling users to project images on oversized screens for large audiences. The Panasonic Projectors' easy to operate geometric adjustment feature makes warping images to be projected on curved surfaces possible, making these new projectors ideal solutions for museums with amphitheaters and other similar-type settings. Superior Brightness The PT-DZ12000U and PT-D12000U both go beyond full-HD expectations by setting a benchmark of 12,000 lumens of brightness. The three-chip DLP technology provides resistance to image deterioration over time to ensure reliable, high-quality operation. They are also equipped with a 3D Color Management feature that helps optimize color saturation, hue and brightness levels for approximately 1,070,000,000 colors. Panasonic picture quality for the PT-DZ12000U and PT-D12000U are also supported by a new Detail Clarity Processor. The projector's new Detail Clarity Processor analyzes frequency characteristics of each frame and applies necessary sharpness at varying degrees to create natural, life-like images with exceptional clarity. The System Daylight View function uses an image processing circuit to compensate for the loss of color saturation that occurs when light reflects onto the screen from bright surroundings. This feature is especially effective for producing crisp, sharp images in dark portions containing gradation. "Displaying HD content in large venues requires impeccable image quality, reliability and ease of installation and use," said Thomas Zitelli, president of Panasonic Projector Systems Company. "The PT-DZ12000U and PT-D12000U offer customer's flexible, state-of-the-art projection solutions with professional quality viewing for hours of extended use." Ultimate Efficiency and Flexibility Each model comes equipped with the Auto Cleaning Robot, an automatic filter cleaning system that enables about 2,000 hours of use without filter maintenance. The liquid-cooling system, directly cools the DLP chips and allows both models to be used in temperatures up to 45(degree)C (113(degree)F), enabling their use in a wider variety of environments. The micro-cut filter traps dust particles 10 microns or larger, safeguarding the optical blocks and capturing about seven times as much dust as previous models' filters. With Panasonic's original four-lamp system, both 12,000 lumen projectors feature a lamp replacement cycle. If one lamp burns out during operation, the lamp relay mode allows the remaining lamps to provide plenty of light to continue projecting(1). The wide adjustment range for the horizontal and vertical lens shift provides flexibility for easy installations because it assures virtually distortion-free images, while the optional lenses offer different throw distances. It's through these powered zoom/focus lenses that enable the projector to perform in a variety of environments. Both models, which support PJLink(TM) protocol can be connected to a wired LAN connection, allowing remote control, monitoring, and e-mail alert messaging functions through Web browser. Temperature alarm and burnt-lamp LEDs are also included on each projector, letting operators know exactly where to address maintenance issues. The Panasonic PT-DZ10000U and PT-D12000U projectors are both made in Japan, Buy American (BAA/TAA) compliant and will be available at authorized presentation systems dealers from August. The manufacturer's MSRP of the PT-DZ12000U is $69,000 and the MSRP of the PT-D12000U is $59,000. Jun 18, 2008 09:00 Lighthouse Technologies Demonstrates High-Resolution Panels and New Creative Products at InfoComm08 LAS VEGAS --(Business Wire)-- Jun. 18, 2008 The United States' premier show for cutting-edge AV technology, InfoComm08 is Lighthouse Technologies' chosen venue to demonstrate its state-of-the-art, high-resolution R6-B and R4-S LED panels, as well as debut its latest LED display with the LEDScape(R) Tile T120850, a high-resolution tile display designed for any size or shape of site at Booth N6713 in the North Hall at Las Vegas Convention Center. R6-B is a 6mm pixel pitch, black-faced panel that brings a new dimension to the superb picture quality of Lighthouse LED screens with its 2,000 nits of brightness, enabling it to cope well with ambient light levels. Other features include a horizontal viewing angle of 140 (+70/-70) and vertical viewing angle of 90 (+40/-50), and it employs the single king pin for fast rigging, making it ideal for the indoor rental, exhibition and conference markets. "Lighthouse understands the importance of designing a superior LED panel that can easily be installed and integrated at different venues and events for our clients," said Peter Chan, general manager of Lighthouse. "We have designed a superfine resolution of R4-B and R6-B series with Lighthouse's new 3-in-1 black Surface Mount Device (SMD) LED, which offers a much better contrast level and visual performance -- overall, providing the best possible return on investment for customers." In addition, the black casing of the SMD provides a truer black level within the displayed image and a contrast ratio of 3,300:1 and 3,800:1, respectively. And the panels are able to run at lower temperatures, thereby consuming less power. Series P4-B and P6-B permanent installation panels are ideal for main focal point applications such as branded retail outlets. In addition, these panels offer the added benefit of low noise levels and a high contrast ratio while producing extremely detailed content and striking images. R4-S, meanwhile, is a standard version LED screen, designed for the indoor rental market. It offers 2,000 nits of brightness, wide viewing angles and M4 color uniformity control. For permanent installation, the P4-S and P6-S panels provide the same benefits and are perfectly suited to applications such as indoor exhibitions and a wide variety of retail environments. "Lighthouse makes impressive, high-quality LED screens," said Andrew Gumper, president of AG Light and Sound, LED suppliers for "NBC Sunday Night Football." "During the season, the Lighthouse R4 screen was one of the only products that could stand up to the rigorous tour schedule, and we could always count on it to look amazing on a weekly HD broadcast. Superior quality and full support from Lighthouse Technologies made it our product of choice." Finally, the LEDScape(R) Tile T120850 is a new departure from Lighthouse's traditional LED display panels, combining the concept of LED technology and its applications to a diverse array of "landscapes," producing an innovative display solution for architectural projects. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications, the tiles feature a 12mm pixel pitch and 8 x 8 pixels per Intelligent Module (IM). With 5,000 nits of brightness from 3-in-1 SMD LEDs and a viewing angle of 140 degrees, users can produce creative display designs for any size or shape of site. "We are excited to offer a whole new visual dimension to large-scale events, including corporate and entertainment venues with LEDScape(R) Tile," said Ed Whitaker, senior sales manager of the U.S. market. "This new lighting fixture is extremely cost effective due to its modular nature and its ability to seamlessly bring together the world of lighting and video production, allowing abstract designs, blocks of color and large fixed or animated illustrations to be displayed for any size or shape." Featuring a contrast ratio of 2,000:1, LEDScape(R) is driven by the SVP-SXGA processor designed exclusively for the LEDScape(R) series. Thanks. Alan Gouger 07-01-08, 09:46 AM Any info about LEDDLP 500-1000 Lumen front projectors? Thanks. I was not at the show but I do not think it will make an appearance until Cedia this September. Infocomm is geared toward commercial applications where bright projectors dominate to meet the demand of larger screens or use in a lot of ambient light but I share your interest with LED projection. I looks very promising. donaldk 07-01-08, 10:21 AM The TI release I posted did not mention any customers. It said later in 2008, regarding availability. vsv 07-02-08, 12:40 PM Alan, here info from Infocomm'08 dedicated to new LG LEDDLP projector (sorry not 500-1000 Lm:) ) "In the back, dark room of the showcase were the pico/pocket projectors, which because of their design don't tolerate ambient light well. Most impressive to me by far were a pair of new LG HS102 projectors using PhatLight LED/DMD technology. They support SVGA resolution with a 2,000:1 contrast ratio and 150 ANSI lumens. I was told by an LG rep they'll ship next month and cost around $799. One of the models was running composite video, the other was running DivX-coded video off a USB stick plugged into the unit's new USB port. Neither was bigger than a stack of CD jewel cases, and both projected pretty impressive images on a 4:3, 60-inch Da-Lite screen with 1.5 gain (see below; again, apologies for the less-than-pro photography). The LG rep asked what I thought of a HS102 with a built-in TV tuner. As a consumer device, it makes a lot of sense. Apparently the company has one under development." You can read also about Da-Lite's new 3D Virtual Black projection screen material.
