Hello. Im new to the forum and thought I could find some help setting up my home's "theatre" and audio system. I'll begin by listing all of the speakers which are already installed in the ceilings of my house.
In my downstairs Family Room, I have four speakers in the ceiling.
In my upstairs family room I have an identical setup with four, in a square with one around each corner of the ceiling.
In the hall leading out of the upstairs bonus room, I have two speakers placed inline, about 4 feet away from each other.
Yesterday I found two "outlet covers"(not sure what else they are called). One was in the upstairs bonus room, and the other down in the family room. Downstairs, I found that their were wires for not only the 4 speakers in that room, but also two others which I assumed to be connected to the two wall speakers. In the upstairs bonus room I found only 4 wires which obviously connect to the 4 speakers in that room.
I would like the speakers in my downstairs family room to play movies, tv, and possibly xbox 360. The 6 speakers upstairs will be designated only for music.
My question is will I have to purchase two receivers, or will I somehow be able to power all upstairs speakers with one receiver downstairs. I found it dumb to have the wires for the hall speakers downstairs, and the bonus room wires upstairs.
Sorry for all the questions and the long post, I am just very new to these things and would like to sort some things out. I would greatly appreciate any advice regarding my setup and maybe what products will best suit my needs. I enjoy music and movies but do not consider myself an audiophile or anything like that.
Thanks
