Testing out a Sony SR12 camcorder - takes great video - my preference is to record in the 16 MBPS or 9 MBPS.
My goal is to edit my videos and crop out the un-interesting parts. I will then store the video on my computer's hard drive. When I want to watch the video, I will upload it back to the camcorder and line it out via HDMI to my plasma TV.
Editing is the real pain - having trouble maintaining the video and audio quality in various editing programs. I've tried Vegas Studio 8 Platinum, pinnacle studio 11.2 ultimate, nero 7, etc. They all seem to want to downgrade to 480 res and 2 channel audio. Some won't even import the AVCHD file from the hard drive....my headache is getting worse!
Is there a consumer priced program(less than $200) that will maintain the 1080 lines of resolution and 5.1 audio?
Also, from other threads that I've read, there appears to be many that convert their .m2ts files into WMV or AVI or MPEG-2 format. When you convert to these formats, are you able to preserve the 1080i/5.1 audio in the high 16MBPS bitrate?
Thank!
