View Full Version : Old question: Channels jumping, this is so frickin' annoying!

I've proposed this question a while back, hopefully this time I get some input.

Everything is fine and dandy when I'm watching cable t.v., but as soon as I turned on the recorder (Panasonic DMR-EH55), it tunes to the channel that was last logged to (or programmed for recording) and overwrites my cable box via ir blaster. Okay, that's fine and not a biggie, but here's the annoying part: as soon as I shut the recorder 'off' and only wanted to watch t.v., the usual two or three channels always tunes to itself back and forth, for example; 28, then 782, then 11. It switches intermittently between 30 seconds to a minute and interrupts what I am watching.

My T.V. guides are fully loaded and the EPG has loaded its week's worth of program schedules, but I don't understand why it is doing this, it's been like this since I bought it. Any Panasonic owners have the same issue? Is there a remedy?

Based on what I've read here, that's the TVGOS scanning for program data. I can't recall the remedy that those with cable boxes came up with. Perhaps the temporary solution is to leave the Panny on while you're watching other channels thru the cable box. Or move the IR blaster away from the box, a pain to be sure. Hopefully, someone will come along an share a better solution.

Yeah, that's what I do every time when that happens; I leave the Panny on. I used to set the IR blaster aside but that became a bit tiring. It is very annoying.
